WHAT'S HAPPENING AT MONONA PUBLIC LIBRARY
|
|
Log each day that you read: Mark each day that you spend time reading in your Beanstack reading log. You will earn badges and tickets over a span of 20 days once you hit the milestones of reading 5, 10, 15, and 20 days within that range!
Complete Activity Badges: There are four optional activity badges for all ages - Think, Create, Share, and Grow. Each badge encourages you to participate in a different type of activity to make the most of your summer adventure. You will receive ticket(s) for completing the activities that can be entered into prize drawings. Record your reading and activities by midnight on August 15.
Monona Public Library will also be hosting a multitude of events for adults, children, tweens, teens, and families this summer. Check our Calendar of Events and follow our social media accounts - Facebook & Instagram - to stay up-to-date with coming events. It's going to be a great summer!

Monona Community Read - "Turning the Page Together" on Antiracism
Monona community members of all ages are invited to come together and explore topics of racism, equity, and diversity in our world, community, and lives. We hope you will join us and find ways to be part of this exciting program...learning, growing, and changing.
We have more books to share! Free copies of our Community Read Books are available at Monona Library (while supplies last). Visit the Monona Library's main desk or call 608-222-6127 and encourage others to do so as well.
See below for details about upcoming programs. You'll find options for all age groups because you are never too old or too young to join the conversation! Antiracism takes a village: no matter your age, holding conversations with family members, neighbors, friends, city officials, and youth in your life is one action piece that pushes towards an antiracist community. That is our goal with the community read!
Events for All Ages:
Adults: Come together for a series of three book discussions on Ibram X. Kendi's New York Times bestseller, How to Be An Antiracist, where we’ll explore the concept of antiracism and move toward individual and community action.
Teens & Tweens: Teens and tweens can join book discussions on This Book is Antiracist by Tiffany Jewell & Aurélia Durand, with a focus on understanding antiracism, putting it into practice, and empowerment for action.
Children & Families: Join us for community storytimes and family events! Special resources about the “why and how” of talking about big topics like race will be provided for families and caretakers.
Join us as our community comes together in a commitment to learning and change.
