A Curriculum Resource Room is about the selection, development, and integration of curricular content, along with resources used in teaching and learning. The Room is not teaching content, but rather a deep exploration of the whys and wherefores and expectations for including content in a CPE center curriculum. Why this topic and not that? Why at this time for the student and not another? What may be the best way to teach this; for the students to learn? What resources will help you and what are best for students? How does this area of learning link to others in the curriculum? The Room is a facilitated conversation with participants invited to share their best ideas and resources.

As we all know, the rapidly changing conditions created by COVID-19 and its variants, as well as the differences of infection rates and responses from state to state, necessitate that event sponsors like ACPE constantly evaluate and update health and safety protocols for upcoming in-person events. With ACPE’s Fall 2022 events season upon us, ACPE has meticulously considered current federal, state, and local health and safety guidelines and worked diligently to position ourselves to fully and successfully exercise our duty of care and responsibility as host of multiple in-person events across the United States.

Weekly Highlights
This Week's Reflection
These summer days are fleeting, but the longing for a cooler breeze pulls us forward, into the what’s next, into the season where colors change and fade, where the greens give way to brown. It is a season of dying and renewal, a season of new beginnings in schools and programs. Dante Gabriel Rosetti, a nineteenth-century poet and painter, reflects on these themes with his London home in mind:

Autumn Song
By Dante Gabriel Rossetti

Know'st thou not at the fall of the leaf
How the heart feels a languid grief
Laid on it for a covering,
And how sleep seems a goodly thing
In Autumn at the fall of the leaf?
And how the swift beat of the brain
Falters because it is in vain,
In Autumn at the fall of the leaf
Knowest thou not? and how the chief
Of joys seems—not to suffer pain?
Know'st thou not at the fall of the leaf
How the soul feels like a dried sheaf
Bound up at length for harvesting,
And how death seems a comely thing
In Autumn at the fall of the leaf?

Never doubt that gifts do not age well. This clip from this year’s Newport Festival of Joni Mitchell weave the best of memories with a celebration of now:

Original Psalm from Mark Glazener

1O Lord, my abiding Shepherd, answer me when I call on you.

2From the depths of my distress, I cry out to you.

3Have mercy on me, and hear my prayer.
