Free Trolley Transportation for Fiesta Parade
With a new Fiesta Historical Parade route on Cabrillo Boulevard, taking place on Friday, August 5, the City has joined forces with Old Spanish Days and Downtown Santa Barbara to provide free shuttles to help attendees access the parade route from Downtown. Santa Barbara Trolley will provide three open-air trolleys that will run in a loop up Chapala St., across Victoria St., and down Anacapa St. in 10 to 15 minute intervals.

Viva la Fiesta 2022! 

After a brief hiatus due to the pandemic, the City will have a complete Fiesta this summer with the return of the historic parade, both Mercados, and a variety of dance and celebrations throughout the community. The festivities officially kick-off on Wednesday, August 3, outside City Hall in Mercado De La Guerra.

Andrée Clark Bird Refuge Restoration Construction Kicks Off

Construction of the Andrée Clark Bird Refuge Restoration Project began this week. Officials anticipate wrapping up the project in December. The Weir gate will be replaced with an improved design, along with construction of an upstream treatment wetland at the Municipal Tennis Courts on Old Coast Highway and restoration of habitat around the lake. 

Sewer Lateral Maintenance 

In the City, property owners are responsible for maintaining the sewer lateral from their property to the public sewer main. Proper maintenance can prevent costly damage to private property and the environment. The City’s Sewer Lateral Inspection Program (SLIP) was established in 2007 to address the increasing number of private and public sewer spills caused by issues with the private sewer laterals.

The Library Announces Santa Barbara
Reads 2022 Selection

The Library is pleased to announce N.K. Jemisin’s award-winning speculative novel, The Fifth Season, as the featured title for Santa Barbara Reads 2022. Each year, the Library encourages community members to read the same book at the same time to connect with one another, engage in discussions about issues that matter, and examine the world from different viewpoints.
