Dear Friends,

As many are aware, our neighbor Burke Mtn, is hosting the Enduro World Series (EWS) race, August 13 & 14. This event is the first of two American stops on the 2022 EWS tour, plus it’s the first time the series has ever taken place on the East Coast. This is an honor for Burke Mtn and our ‘NEK’ of the woods. Throughout the week leading up to, during, and after the event, KT is anticipating an influx of visitors to both the community and our trail network. In order to support our landowners and members we are taking preemptive action to properly prepare with an ‘all hands on deck’ approach.

The KT Team has already been hard at work bulking up our staffing numbers and scheduling with not only current Welcome Center and Ambassador staff, but also adding Trail Crew, the Leadership Team and our Board of Directors as Ambassadors throughout the network and in parking lots. Ambassadors will be stationed at key locations making strategic rounds holding trail users accountable, upholding KT trail policies, sharing the Ride with Gratitude code of conduct, encouraging riders to utilize the community shuttle service, ride single file on the roads, and reminding users that they are utilizing and must respect private property. KT will also increase our social media education leading up to the event so trail users are aware and know what to expect for the EWS week.
We have been in constant close communication with Burke Mtn through the EWS planning process to assure correct information about KT is being relayed through their avenues. For information on the event and impact it will have on access to KT and Burke Mtn trail networks, please view Burke Mtn’s website page dedicated to the EWS. Burke Mtn also encourages all those with questions or concerns to reach out to them directly, ews@skiburke.com. KT will continue to update our trail conditions page with any and all KT trail network related information as some trails will be closed to the public during the event.
KT has also been working with the newly established Kingdom Corridor group, facilitated by the Northern Forest Center. The Kingdom Corridor represents community leaders from St. J, Lyndon, Burke and Island Pond with the goal of building a collaborative approach to sustainable tourism that distributes impact and improves the experience for visitors and host communities. As we’re all aware, events that draw many visitors to the region present a great opportunity, but also have the potential to overwhelm. Therefore the Corridor group is planning outreach to Chambers, local leaders, and community members to make folks aware of significant upcoming events, like the EWS, so that we can all be welcoming, while also being prepared. The corridor group has been utilizing the Get NEKed campaign to host an EWS page for visitors about our region that links from Burke Mtn’s website.

We hope this email helps to inform you, our trail users, and community members on what to expect and where to find information on Burke Mtn's amazing event. Please know that KT is dedicated to preparing for the EWS week to not only manage trail users, but most importantly to take care of our landowners and the gift that they so generously offer to us all.

Thank you,
The KT Team
