The Glades Initiative's Food Pantry is available to anyone in need. Residents may come in once per week at any time during hours listed below. In a “Pantry of Choice”, you choose the foods that you want and need (within guidelines).

Required to participate:
• Valid ID or your Glades Initiative Food Pantry ID
• ONE time per week

WHEN: Tuesdays and Wednesdays
  • 3:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. (Tuesday)
  • 8:30 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. & 2:00 p.m. - 4:30 p.m. (Wednesday)

Our Pahokee Center is hosting a Wet & Wild Back to School Bash event. Come and join us so you and everyone in your family can enjoy a fun event before summer ends! An interactive tool using Google Maps to help people easily locate free food and hot meals in Palm Beach County. This online tool was created to connect individuals seeking food resources to sites near them. Information is English, Spanish, and Creole. United Way updates the information listed on this map weekly. However, locations and hours of distribution may change. Please consider calling the site prior to visiting to verify the information listed. Please note that sites may have specific requirements such as ID.

The Florida Dept of Health in PBC is Responding to the Monkeypox Outbreak

The Florida Department of Health in Palm Beach County (DOH-Palm Beach) is responding to the monkeypox outbreak. There are cases of monkeypox in at least 43 states and Washington DC. To date, there have been no monkeypox-related deaths outside of endemic countries. The risk of monkeypox to the general population remains low.

In light of the current crisis in animal shelters all across the country, ACC and Best Friends Animal Society have joined together to create an event to encourage more people to adopt a pet and help clear the county’s shelter.

Lakeside Medical Center Graduates 10th Class of Family Medical Residents

As the need for new doctors grows nationally, the Health Care District of Palm Beach County's teaching hospital, Lakeside Medical Center, recently graduated five new physicians. The hospital's 10th class of family medicine residents completed three years of intense training during the pandemic in the underserved, rural Glades communities that
were considered a hot spot for COVID-19.

In Need of Masks? Contact The Glades Initiative, Inc.

If you or people you know need masks, The Glades Initiative has masks and will share them with anyone in the Glades who needs them. These are the white two-ply reusable washable masks given by the health department. Call or come by to pick them up as long as supplies last. 

If you are with a group of vulnerable people and need more than 20, call us first and we will do our best to help you get what you need.
