IHN This Week, Sums It Up

Noticed our subject lines getting a little long? The more elements for engagement that we added to our e-newsletter, the less room we had to tell you what was in it! Since we produce this weekly, it was easy to simply name the email IHN This Week. Look for our sends either every Friday or Saturday. We've added the date too, so that when you connect with us, it's easier to refer back to the information that you would like to talk about.

Our Campus Culture, section holds a happening or two, either at our campuses or in our online program, followed by ways to connect with us if you are considering becoming student. You'll find free advanced, educational Webinars by IHN's faculty that you can register for; upcoming Continuing Education courses, open to all those in professional practice, who studied at any university or holistic nutrition program; Events like Open Houses, Employment Pop-Ups, Student Appreciation Days and more; complimentary Guest Speakers on traditional and trending topics; Current News with important industry articles; Shared Content with delicious recipes by our alumni and an Alumni section, to share features of our graduates in the field. Let us know if there is anything you'd like to see as part of our correspondence with you!
About to Welcome Newly Accepted Students

The orientation schedule and platform for both online and in-class students was sent to those who registered for the program in their Acceptance Packages. This is the weekend before classes for new students start! Those of you who are still thinking about registering and want to join in the next few weeks are more than welcome to submit your application. Although, the official orientation will have taken place, you will be able to join an orientation summary session with one of our Program Advisors.

Orientation is a day of connection, alignment, and setting intentions. Registered students will meet their classmates; hear motivational presentations about their emergent body of knowledge in therapeutic food, supplement and lifestyle systems. They will be introduced to their online and in-class administration teams. The full day event kicks off by watching a video that highlights the life-changing benefits of holistic nutrition. They will review IHN’s academic policies as well as move through supportive and enlightening dedication and expectation exercises. Next, new students explore critical learning and reading strategies for what is an intense program and then review student software systems. We wrap up the day with a look at our Guest Speakers series, Continuing Education courses, Co-operative Placements, Employment Opportunities, Alumni Membership and the Director’s inspirational message.

Our team is happy to take your call and provide you with answers to support your admission to our program. Please feel free to email the campus administrator for a good time to connect!

We Are Delighted To Have Shayla Vaughan On The Team!

Shayla is excited to work from the Toronto campus, stepping into the role of the Student Services Administrator & Liaison. She looks forward to getting to know the current student body, connecting with alumni and holding Application Interviews for new students. She is happy to provide the best possible support with enthusiasm, care and confidence. She will illuminate you on anything you need to know about current course schedules, our continuing education program, getting you set up as a student for the day, or discussing your success in the program—be it for a complete career change, diversify your current employment in healthcare, with natural principles, “doctor” yourself and your family or create a side-hustle—a seemingly Generation Z term much older than we think, first used in 1950!

A little about our newest administrative team member:

Shayla is an October 2015 Toronto campus graduate and a Trauma-Informed Yoga Teacher with a focus on mental health and the mind-body connection. Her path has not always been wellness-focused. After pursuing a career in broadcasting and film, Shayla’s mom passed away unexpectedly and the loss led her to drastically change her outlook and life direction. Since then, she’s devoted herself to learning about and utilizing the mind-body connection to help others heal, both on and off the mat. Along with offering personalized nutritional advice, Shayla is working toward becoming a licensed counsellor.

Shayla can be reached Mondays through Thursdays from 8:00am-4:00pm & Fridays from 8:00am-2:00pm Eastern.

IHN Guest Speaker Series

Join us as Danielle Ryan Broida from Four Sigmatic discusses the fascinating Fungi Kingdom and unravels why these often overlooked species may just be the key to healing both our bodies and the world. Functional mushrooms are among the most researched, nutrient-dense foods and medicines on the planet. Used for thousands of years in traditional medicine across the world, mushrooms have long been revered for their ability to nourish, balance and build our vitality from the root up.

Rather than acting as band-aids, they support our bodies via our immune system, nervous system, and gut. These three vital systems are building blocks to a strong and healthy body. Beyond our individual health, mushrooms are incredible remediators. Certain fungi species have been shown to break down or even remove toxins from our environment. Students and graduates that attend this lecture will enjoy a discount on Raw Elements and Four Sigmatic products.

All attendees at the LIVE talk will get the IHN Raw Elements & Four Sigmatic Discount codes! Read more about the talk, prizes, and Danielle’s bio when you register:

Robert Tomilson Shares Material From The Con Ed Course

Join us Tuesday, January 19 at 7:00 PM ET for a 1 hour webinar, as Robert Tomilson takes us on a journey through a fascinating exploration of the Iris and Sclera of the eyes. Observe how to detect weakness in the body long before it manifests as disease. Iridology is a quick, accurate, non-invasive, and painless method of health analysis through the examination of the iris and a perfect “marriage” with any nutritional practice. The iris consists of tiny nerve fibers known as trabecula that reveal the body’s constitution, inherent weakness, level of health, and the transitions that take place in a person’s body according to the way they live. Discover how a simple step-by-step process can not only give you deep insights into various health issues but also maximize your marketability and thoroughly impress your clients.

A Positive Direction For Environmental Health

Mexico is taking determined steps toward a healthier agriculture industry by banning glyphosate-based herbicides by 2024. Given the scientific research on the toxicity of the herbicide on the environment and amongst the Mexican population, the country’s leaders are paying urgent attention to the matter. Dr. Tello, Director General of Mexico’s Renewable Natural Resources sector, reiterated in a June 27, 2020, Sustainable Pulse article (3 minute read), “Mexico Announces Phase-Out and Ban on Glyphosate Herbicides,” that “in the face of this problem we all have to act because, beyond productivity, there is human and environmental health.”

Ghee, or clarified butter, can be obtained by melting butter and removing the non-fat ingredients (water, proteins, and carbohydrates) leaving a nutrient-rich golden yellow liquid. Compared to regular butter, ghee can be heated to a higher temperature without burning, has a longer storage life, plus numerous health benefits. Ghee is often recommended for those who suffer from dairy intolerance as it is easier for the body to digest since it does not contain casein or lactose. Incorporate ghee into your weekly meals with this Ghee Roasted Parsley Potatoes recipe by IHN graduate Rachel Molenda.
