New York - The UN Committee for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination (CERD) strongly criticizes the distinction that the Kingdom of the Netherlands makes in the corona support between the country of the Netherlands on the one hand and Curaçao, Aruba and Sint Maarten on the other.

The committee notes in a report that it is concerned about the conditions that the Netherlands imposes on the aid, which makes it less favourable. The Committee also expresses concern about obstacles for residents of CAS countries to fully exercise the right to self-determination.

The Committee recommends that the State of the Netherlands promote equality between Dutch citizens born in the Caribbean part and their European kingdom partners.

StMaartenNews.com will be publishing an analysis of this report. In the meantime, you can read the full report online at https://dossierkoninkrijksrelaties.nl/2021/08/26/vn-comite-roept-nederland-op-caribische-landen-gelijk-te-behandelen.
