SPECIAL NOTICE:
NIGHTTIME WORK SCHEDULED FOR OVERNIGHT ON
SUNDAY, OCTOBER 31

Overnight work related to Downtown Crossing will occur between 7 p.m. on Sunday, October 31 until 6 a.m. on Monday, November 1.

This work will will occur at two locations:

  • Church Street between MLK Boulevard and Lafayette Street (Church Street in this area will be CLOSED)

  • Congress Avenue and Lafayette Street

This work entails milling and paving and will produce noise that may be loud.

Church Street between MLK Boulevard and Lafayette Street will be CLOSED from 7 p.m. on Sunday, October 31 until 6 a.m. on Monday, November 1 to accommodate this work.

Road signage will alert drivers to the detour around the closed area.

Please pay attention to this road signage, slow down, and stay safe!

PLEASE NOTE:
This work is being done at night to maintain hospital access and public safety. If done during the daytime hours, this work could inhibit access to Yale New Haven Hospital as it requires additional lane closures, beyond the existing South Frontage Road closure between College and Church Streets.

Nighttime work dates listed above are weather dependent and are subject to change.


OVERVIEW FOR NEXT WEEK:
Aside from the night work described above and the corresponding road closures, there will be no changes to the existing traffic patterns over the coming week. South Frontage Road remains closed between College & Church Streets with detours for drivers, pedestrians, and bicyclists in effect. Please see below, towards the end of this newsletter, for graphics of the various detour routes.

Various other lane closures may also occur to accommodate construction and are listed in more detail immediately below.

LANE CLOSURES
Throughout the one-week period of Monday, November 1 and Friday, November 5, 2021 various lane closures may occur on the following roads to accommodate construction:

  • State Street & Union Avenue at North Frontage Road: single lane closures near the intersection of Water Street.
  • South Frontage Road: single lane closures may occur on SFR between York Street and South Orange Street.
  • Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard: single lane closures between Church Street and Orange Street.
  • Orange Street between George Street and MLK Boulevard: closed heading south.

WORK HOURS
Downtown Crossing-related work for the one-week of period of Monday, November 1 through Friday, November 5, 2021 will occur during both daytime and nighttime work hours. 

Daytime work hours are weekdays between 7 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. 

Nighttime work hours are between 7 p.m. and 6 a.m.
