SSMMA Kicks Off Holiday Season with Annual

Holiday Jingle and Mingle

The South Suburban Mayors and Managers Association would like to thank all elected officials, associate members, partners, and friends who attended SSMMA's Jingle & Mingle Dinner last week. We couldn’t be happier to kick off the 2024 holiday season with all of you!

Special thanks to Mayor Patty Eidam and the Village of Lansing for hosting this year's event and to the more than 250 attendees who joined us for a wonderful dinner and fellowship with colleagues. Attendees enjoyed the Illinois Philharmonic Orchestra who entertained everyone throughout the evening with their sounds of the season. Special thanks to Lansing's mascot, Henry T. Fox for making a special appearance!

We want to express our sincere appreciation to all of our event sponsors: Comcast, ComEd, CEDA, Calumet City Plumbing, Clayco, Governors State University, Nicor Gas, Robinson Engineering, Ltd., AT&T, Farnsworth Group, Hera Registry, Homewood Disposal Service, Inc., Horton Group, Illinois American Water, IngenAE, LLC, South Suburban College, State Representative Debbie Meyers-Martin, and True Heights Treatment.

Senate Leader Elgie Sims Holds Office Hours in Lansing

State Senator R. Elgie Sims Jr. held mobile office office hours in the Village of Lansing at the Lansing Library this week on Thursday, December 12th, where he met with Lansing Mayor Patty Eidam, SSMMA Executive Director Kristi DeLaurentiis, and other local constituents. Leader Sims’ district spans parts of the south side of Chicago through Kankakee and includes the Villages of Burnham, Calumet City, Crete, Dolton, Ford Heights, Lansing, Lynwood, Sauk Village, and South Holland.

Joined by senior members of his team, Senator Sims’ Thursday morning timetable provided an opportunity to directly engage in 1-on-1 discussions with residents to ensure they receive the proper resources available to them, and to talk with Mayor Eidam and Director DeLaurentiis about municipal priorities for the coming year. The need to address escalating local property tax bills, spur economic development and job growth, hold the line on pension costs, and invest in local communities were identified.

Thank you, Leader Sims, for your leadership, time, and attention to the needs and priorities of the communities and people within your district and the south suburbs! Pictures from the meeting are available here.
