ADVISOR SPOTLIGHT
Learn more about the exceptional volunteers that give their time and expertise to travel with our B3 teams.
Sydney Kay
Advisor - Estrellon Team
I joined B3 out of the blue in 2010 as a junior in high school. On Day1 of local volunteering I
made amazing friendships that strengthened
when I traveled to Ecuador and Nicaragua with team Rock-It. I still talk about digging trenches taller than me to put a water system in the mountains of Ecuador and carrying extremely heavy wires through the roads of Nicaragua with my sister to build a bridge. B3 is a family affair at this point, I was super lucky to travel with my sister and once we both graduated our mom started going as an advisor! After high school I went to the University of New Hampshire where I majored in Mechanical Engineering, minored in Spanish and was a 2-year captain of the D1 Track and Field team. Since college I have moved back to Fairfield where I work as a project engineer designing baggage systems at airports, (if you've ever lost a bag before, sorry!!). When I'm not at work you can usually find me at the gym where I recently started working as a support trainer, or outside staying active. I am a very competitive person and will be looking forward to bringing home as many golden shovels as possible, especially if it means taking it from a rival team advised by my mother!!
Howard Greene
Advisor - Rock-It! Team
I am very excited to be traveling with B3 as an advisor for my sixth year. I was introduced to B3 when my older daughter, Alex, took her first trip to Ecuador as a high school sophomore in 2011. My younger daughter, Stephanie, also traveled with B3 during her four years in high school. B3 is special to me because I believe over the years my team has made lasting contributions to the communities in which we have worked. Additionally, I have served on the B3 Board of Directors since 2018 where I have enjoyed using my professional skills and experience to help advance the organization. Outside of B3, I work as a volunteer and board member with CT and International non-profit organizations that help serve education, health and other needs of the communities they serve. I’ve also been fortunate to have traveled extensively, including trekking in remote parts of Bhutan, camping in Tanzania, and touring in Peru, Bolivia, Patagonia, and Costa Rica. My experiences have demonstrated to me the need for active community involvement contributing to sustainable projects. I look forward to getting to know the members of my team this year and a successful trip to Guatemala.

Michelle Moore
Advisor - Equipo Esperanza Team
As the mother of two independent daughters I was introduced to B3 via Sydney Kay when she announced she had just sent $600 of her own money to B3 and was headed to Ecuador in April of 2011, the rest is history! This will be my fourth year traveling with B3, my first thee were with the Mejuntos Teams and this year I will be traveling with the Equipo Esperanza Team! My kids went on a combined total of six B3 trips and I have sat on Advisory board since 2012. In my spare time I essentially play in the dirt and attend a ridiculous amount of weddings. (I have a small gardening business and work for an event florist)

Beth Kells
Advisor - Amanecer/Mejuntos Team
This will be my second year as an advisor but I have been a part of the B3 family for over 10 years now. I was introduced to B3 through my oldest child when she discovered the program. Consequently, all 3 of my children were active students in the program throughout their high school years. I have a Master’s in Social Work and worked primarily in programs that provided service to families with children with developmental disabilities. I enjoy yoga and tennis. I am excited to be an advisor to the new Amanecer/Menjuntos Team. After this difficult year I am more than thrilled to be of service with this tremendous program.
