THE TIME IS NOW TO VACCINATE. COVID-19 IS ON THE RISE.
If you are 12 or older, you are eligible to be vaccinated at South Central Regional Medical Center’s (SCRMC) COVID Vaccination Clinic. Vaccinations are available on Fridays at South Central Place in Laurel (located at 2260 HWY 15 North – by Kroger). Walk-in spots are available from 8 a.m. – 2 p.m. No appointment is required.

Vaccine Clinic Date is July 23 from 8 a.m. – 2 p.m. at South Central Place in Laurel.

Those who are interested in receiving a COVID-19 vaccination are not required to be an established patient at SCRMC and/or South Central Clinics. There is no out-of-pocket expense to individuals. South Central asks that those attending bring their Driver’s License.

Vaccinations provided at South Central COVID-19 Vaccine Clinic are administered by medical professionals. If you have had severe reactions from previous vaccines or injectable medications, please consult with your medical provider about vaccination before scheduling an appointment.

SCRMC Recommends Vaccinations for the Following Individuals:
  • Persons aged 12 and older can receive the vaccine.
  • Vaccinations are strongly encouraged for Individuals 50 years of age and older. This population remains the most vulnerable group, with 94% of the reported deaths and more than 80% of the hospitalizations occurring in this age group.
  • Pregnant women, lactating women and those who are immunocompromised may take the vaccine, however, consultation with your healthcare provider is recommended.
  • You can be vaccinated if you have tested positive for COVID-19 if you wait until your isolation period is over and your symptoms have significantly improved.

 Who Should Not Be Vaccinated:
  • You should not take the vaccine if you have had severe reactions from previous vaccines or injectable medications.
  • If you have had any other type of vaccination in the last two weeks, you should not be vaccinated against COVID-19. Make a COVID-19 vaccination appointment at least two weeks after you receive any other vaccination.

Because of You, Life Doesn’t Stop. Every two seconds, someone in the U.S. needs blood. This could be a little girl in the ICU or a mother with Stage 3 leukemia. If you’re worried about needles, don’t be—most blood donors compare the experience to a mild, split-second pinch! The entire process is very safe and very fast, and you will feel amazing knowing you potentially saved up to three people. COVID-19 vaccinated? Great! You are ABSOLUTELY allowed to give blood or platelets if you meet all general blood donation eligibility criteria.

One of the most common reasons for knee pain is osteoarthritis, also known as "wear and tear" arthritis. While there is no cure for osteoarthritis, there are lots of treatment options, including both surgical and nonsurgical options that can be discussed with your physician. Surgeons at South Central Orthopedics in Laurel are now offering robotic-assisted surgery for knee replacement patients. To learn more, visit scrmc.com.
