Dear Residents -
Just a reminder that FEMA has set up a Disaster Recovery Center (DRC) at the Orangetown Soccer Complex, 175 Old Orangeburg Road, Orangeburg, New York, to give in-person help to residents and businesses seeking assistance for damages caused by Hurricane Ida. The DRC is open from 8 am to 7 pm seven days a week. Please note that the deadline to file is December 5, 2021, but I encourage everyone to file as soon as possible. I would also like to take this opportunity to thank the Orangetown Metro Sports Club for sharing the facilities with FEMA. It is very much appreciated.
The New York State Department of Transportation has advised my office that Route 9W will once again be closed this weekend, between 7 am and 7 pm, from Hickey Street in Piermont to Shadyside Avenue/Exit 10 in South Nyack. Orangetown Police will be assisting with traffic control. While local residents will have access to their homes, there will be NO THROUGH TRAFFIC.
Looking for something fun to do this weekend? Tomorrow is the “Little Brown Jug Game” at Nanuet High School. For those that don’t know, this is the annual football game between the Pearl River Pirates and the Nanuet Golden Knights. It is always a nail-biting game, but this year it is even more so because Supervisor George Hoehmann and Superintendent McCahill have wagered a friendly bet that Nanuet is going to win. If they are wrong, they will have to treat Superintendent Pochintesta and myself to dinner somewhere in Pearl River. But if they are right, Superintendent Pochintesta and I will have to treat Supervisor Hoehmann and Superintendent McCahill to dinner somewhere in Nanuet. The game kicks off at 1:30 pm and I hope to see everyone out there cheering on a Pirate win because the stakes are high!
Continue reading to see the many fun things taking place over the weekend. Be sure to stop by one or more of them and be sure to let them know you saw it in the Supervisor's e-newsletter!
Enjoy yourselves and stay safe!
Respectfully,
