Dear friend,

The League is keeping a close eye on the Mosquito Fire, which is burning west of the Tahoe Basin near the Oxbow Reservoir in both Placer and El Dorado counties.

As of this morning (Friday, September 16), the blaze had consumed 69,908 acres – a growth of a few thousand acres overnight – and is 20% contained. It has destroyed 70 structures and is threatening more than 9,000 others. 3,873 firefighters are battling the flames.

A weather system is forecast to move into the Sierra tomorrow, which is likely to bring winds followed by precipitation that are expected to affect the fire’s behavior.

We wanted to share a few helpful resources to keep you informed and prepared as our region faces yet another wildfire.
