October Quote
“Volunteerism is an act of heroism on a grand scale. And it matters profoundly. It does more than help people beat the odds; it changes the odds.” – Bill Clinton

Shape the Future
At our 6th Annual Gala Brunch, coming up on November 3, we will pause to review TriCircle's many triumphs and accomplishments over the past year. We will hear from people who have lived experience as they share their stories; we will mingle with those who have benefitted from the services we offer and who are committed to building a strong future for themselves and for TriCircle. Those who choose to attend, have skin in the game, a vested interest, a solid commitment to our cause. Many attendees are a force to be reckoned with; they are our volunteers.
In the volunteer department, I often wish we were further along in the development of cloning technology. We could take our "rock star" volunteers and duplicate them freely. I could clone myself and be in four places at once! Unfortunately, I think it is a long way off. That said, I am putting out a plea for your time, talent and commitment to TriCircle in 2025 and beyond. As Arthur Ashe said, "Start where you are. Use what you have. Do what you can." It is time for more people to step up, be heard and become part of the solution. TriCircle is growing and evolving and we need you.
Helen Dyer said, “Volunteerism is the voice of the people put into action. These actions shape and mold the present into a future of which we can all be proud.” Let your voice be heard; let your actions strengthen our mission and message; let your time and talent help build a strong future for our organization and for those we serve.
If you have never attended our Gala Brunch, it is definitely something to consider. Ask anyone. I often wonder what people's perception of a "Gala" is. For years I considered these events to be out of my league, and I thought invitations were only extended to people of wealth and stature to gather and celebrate and support a cause. I was wrong! TriCircle's Gala is a casual and inclusive affair. It is informal, business casual, fun, informative and designed to include everyone. This event gathers us together to laugh, cry, share, and hope. I have physical tickets for sale which will save you the online fee or click here to purchase tickets online. Either way, please join us on Sunday, November 3, at The Farms Country Club in Wallingford for some lovely music, fantastic food, great raffles from our generous donors, touching stories and unparalleled camaraderie. After your amazing experience, our hope is that you will feel encouraged to get more involved. As my grandmother always said, "Many hands make lighter work!"

October Spotlight:
Rachel Smith
| | | |
Rachel Smith first became involved with TriCircle through The Women and Families Center. She has teamed up with us recently to provide community education for CPR/AED/First Aid certification and is also a SMART Recovery Family and Friends facilitator.
Rachel belongs to a church community that is focused on helping people in recovery, and she has participated in outreach activities. While she does not have a history of substance use, many of her friends and family members do. Addiction is a family disease, and Rachel has found it challenging to watch as her loved ones have suffered. She still somehow felt like she was in the dark, only seeing what she wanted to see.
As a facilitator for SMART Recovery Family and Friends, and thanks to TriCircle, she is very happy to say that she has learned how to support and provide resources for her family and friends. She is no longer in the dark and can recognize the signs and provide insight. Rachel feels that today's resources are much better and more available.
Most importantly, Rachel has come to realize that we are not alone; we are in this together and we have to be there for each other. She firmly believes that when one of us struggles, we all struggle. She is grateful for the opportunity to share her story and grateful to TriCircle for helping her understand that her grief is real and it is shared by so many others. She thoughtfully said, "We need to share our stories more so we can lift one another. Sometimes that is all it takes."

Two amazing events were held on Saturday, September 21st.
All of the proceeds from Raianna's 3rd Annual Poker Run and a portion of proceeds from the Outrun Addiction 5K benefitted TriCircle. Thank you to everyone who helped make it possible. See you again next year!
