Dear WSMS Parents and Guardians,

I hope you are having a safe and relaxing summer with family and friends. School is just around the corner so I wanted to touch base with you to share some important information as we close out July and head into August. Next week our teachers and staff will be participating in some outstanding learning opportunities offered through Learning in Lovejoy, a professional development conference hosted by Lovejoy ISD. We are excited to move into August and begin our final preparations for the 2021-2021 school year.

I would also like to invite students to Walk the Springs August 13th from 9:00--11:30 AM. This will be a time for students to walk their schedules and meet their teachers. Walk the Springs is a student only event. Please see the back to school timeline below for more information about back to school events.

Finally, I will be hosting a 7th grade parent webinar on Tuesday, August 3rd from 1:00-2:00 PM. The purpose of this webinar is to inform parents about Willow Springs and what they can expect their child’s experience to be. More information will be coming out about this next week.

Have a great week!

Kevin

Academic Lockers at Willow Springs
There are often lots of questions about student lockers in middle school. Students participating in band or orchestra will have an instrument locker. Student athletes will have an athletic locker. Academic lockers are located in the academic hallways, and these lockers will be available to students during the first week of school. Academic lockers are optional at WSMS as we transition students to high school where academic lockers are not available. During the first week of school, students will be able to request lockers. WSMS staff will be in the cafeteria during lunches on Wednesday, August 18th to assign lockers to students. If you have any questions regarding academic lockers at WSMS, please contact your student's counselor.

WSMS PTO
I hope you are having a great summer and making fun memories! We are excited to welcome back our Leopards to a more normal year on campus and look forward to a great year!

Please watch for the WSMS mailing, which will include information on joining the PTO. Your membership and donations are the only way we can provide the programs and hospitality events we host throughout each school year. Your membership gives you access to our online directory, volunteer opportunities and parent programming. Your generous donations allow us to fund programs like AIM for Success, Red Ribbon Week, College Preparedness presentations and more.

Please bookmark our web site for PTO contact information, event/speaker updates and ways you can participate in supporting our school. As always, we value your membership, time and resources that you generously provide to our PTO.

REMIND: One way to make sure you don’t miss out on PTO activities is to sign up for Remind texts! Get reminders on PTO events, parent presentations and volunteer opportunities! Sign up by texting @wspto21 to 81010.

Watch upcoming emails for information about ways you can support the PTO. In the meantime, thanks for your support, and I look forward to the day when seeing you at school or around the district is a common occurrence.
