Celebrating Global Diversity Awareness Month
In October, we celebrate Global Diversity Awareness Month. We are looking to raise awareness about the diversity of cultures and ethnicities and the positive impact diversity can have on society.

After World War II, on December 10, 1948, the United Nations General Assembly adopted the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. The Declaration represents the first global expression of rights to which all human beings are inherently entitled. We all need to remember and value each human being for who they are, regardless of their nationality, color, race, sex, gender, country of origin, language, etc.
As the world becomes more and more connected and globalized, we have to keep in mind that a global monoculture, or a homogenization of cultures, eliminates traditional cultures and unique traits of people. Embracing cultural diversity – in all aspects of life – helps us avoid a global monoculture. Cultural diversity also refers to different cultures that respect and celebrate each other’s differences.

Global Diversity Awareness Month is a great opportunity for all of us to learn more about new cultures and explore the diversity that makes the world such a wonderful place.
