FARM Program publishes 2021 Drug Residue Prevention Manual
The National Dairy Farmers Assuring Responsible Management (FARM) Program published its 2021 Milk & Dairy Beef Drug Residue Prevention Reference Manual and accompanying pocket guide, an on-farm educational tool that promotes best management practices for administering treatment to dairy cattle.
The annual publication also provides a comprehensive list of FDA-approved drugs for use in cattle with their associated milk and meat withdrawal times, along with milk and urine screening test information. The pocket guide offers a quick reference to these informational charts in a small, laminated, ring-bound booklet.

Make your plans to attend 2021 ADSA Virtual Annual Meeting
Planning continues for our annual meeting. Although we regret that we cannot meet in person, we will still achieve our mission of promoting the dissemination and exchange of knowledge that will improve the global dairy sector.
We will have at least 700 abstracts, all recorded for you to watch on your own time, starting one week early, with live question and answer sessions for many speakers from noon to 2 pm Eastern US time each day. In addition, most of our symposia will now be presented as 2-hour mini-symposia starting at 10 am or 4 pm; these will consist of short recorded presentations from speakers and ample time for live discussion. Some symposia also will be held as webinars this fall, and they are included in your registration. Plans for early morning and late-night roundtable chats also are in the works. Our goal is to have something live available for everyone from every time zone. We need people to help, and we especially invite those from countries outside of North America to help facilitate discussions on the latest science and challenges of the global dairy sector.
If you have ideas on how we can help people connect with each other, or if you would like to help with any of the live sessions, please contact us at ADSA@assochq.org .
Mike VandeHaar, Overall Program Chair
Cara Tharp, Program Coordinator
Rich Erdman, ADSA President
Just a reminder discounted Annual Meeting registration is one of the many benefits of ADSA membership. The savings on annual meeting registration will largely cover the cost of membership so if you aren’t a member be sure to become one before registering and take advantage of this great benefit.

ADSA joins in advocating for research
Work on the Federal FY22 budget is progressing in various Congressional Committees.. ADSA has joined in several coalition letters advocating for research funding. The most recent letter originated with the Association of Public and Land Grant Universities (APLU). Based on findings from a recent survey of research facilities it stresses the need to address deferred maintenance for these buildings and replace the dilapidated facilities. Copies of these and past letters are available in the Advocacy section of www.adsa.org
ADSA joined over 350 national, regional and local stakeholder groups in a letter to House and Senate Agriculture Committee leaders requesting at least $11.5 billion for research infrastructure at U.S. colleges of agriculture over a period of five years. The letter argues that such an “investment is necessary to advance the critical work being done at institutions across the country to support American jobs, recruit a diversity of talent for the agricultural science pipeline, address our climate challenges, and ensure ongoing U.S. leadership in food and agricultural innovation.”
