Exam season is here!


Good luck as you head into your first finals at Queen’s! You’ve worked hard all term; now it’s time to finish strong.


We’re here to support you through the final stretch of 2024 with academic resources, study planning tools, and strategies to manage stress and anxiety.


Looking ahead to 2025, we’re thrilled to announce that applications for next year’s Dons, Residence Program Assistants, and Front Desk staff are now open!

Good luck on your exams


To all you first-year Gaels writing your first final exam at Queen's, you've got this! Embrace the challenge, trust in your hard work, and remember you're stronger than you think. Good luck; you’re going to rock it!


As a special treat for all you smart cookies, we are handing out cookies at all front desks on December 9, 10, and 14. Grab your exam study treats while supplies last!

Take-and-Make Kits start December 9!


Take a well-deserved break from studying and unwind with our macrame keychain Take-and-Make Kits! Each kit has everything you need for a fun and relaxing DIY project you can enjoy at your own pace. Pick up yours at the Victoria Hall or Jean Royce Hall front desk starting Monday, December 9, while the supply lasts.

Calling all artists!


We’re excited to announce an opportunity to showcase YOUR artwork in a one-night exhibit next term! Whether you’re a painter, photographer, sculptor, weaver, or digital artist, this is your chance to share your creativity with the community.


Submission Details:

Who: All first-year students are welcome to submit

What: Original artwork (any medium)

Deadline: February 24, 2025

Reminder: Winter Break & Stayover Requests


If you need to extend your residence stay beyond 3 pm on the day after your last exam, or if you need to remain in residence over the break, please go to the Student Residence and Dining Portal to fill out one or both of the below forms:

  1. Residence Extension Request – to request to remain in residence past 3 pm on the day after your last exam
  2. Residence Stayover Form – to request to stay in residence over the break (for some or all of the time between December 21 and January 5)

Changes to Front Desk Hours


Front Desk hours have been adjusted during exam season. Please take note of the following:


Victoria Hall:

Current Hours: Open 24/7 until Monday, December 23 at 3 pm

Winter Term Hours resume on January 2 at 7 am:  Open 24/7


Jean Royce Hall Front Desk:

Current Hours: Open daily from 8 am – 3 am until December 21 at 4 pm

Winter Term Hours resume on January 2 at 8 am: Open daily, 8 am — 3 am


Watts Hall Parcel Depot:

Current Hours: Monday to Friday, 11 am – 7 pm until December 20 at 7 pm

Winter Term Hours resume on January 2: Monday to Friday, 11 am – 7 pm


Endaayaan - Tkanónsote Front Desk:

Current Hours: Open daily, 3 pm – 11 pm until December 8 at 11 pm

Winter Term Hours resume on January 6: Open daily, 3 pm - 11 pm

Residence Conduct Corner: Amnesty Period for Return of University/Other Property: December 2-6


The amnesty period to return damaged and stolen university property continues until Friday, December 6.


If you've come across any stolen or damaged items, we invite you to return them to the Residence Conduct & Support Office in Victoria Hall C110 — no questions asked.

 

Visit us Monday to Friday, 9 am – noon and 1 – 4 pm. After this period, any stolen or damaged items found will lead to sanctions and restitution charges to cover repair costs. Remember, you're responsible for your residence room and everything inside it, no matter how those items got there.

Be sure to close your windows, turn off the lights, and lower the thermostat before you leave!


Return Your Good to Go Containers before you go.

No one likes a stinky room! Before you leave campus, don’t forget to swap your GOOD TO GO reusable container for a carabiner.

Exam Hours of Operations


As exams and winter break approaches, please review the Hours at a Glance page to plan your dining hall and retail visits. Hours of operation will change.

Bottomless Beverages


Bottomless Beverages are here for exams! Purchase your Bottomless Beverage sticker at a participating retail food location and get free unlimited tea and drip coffee in your reusable mug all December long. Whether you're a coffee drinker or a tea lover, this mug is the perfect way to save some money on your daily beverage order!


Participating locations: The Lazy Scholar, Location 21, MC2, Jean Royce Barista, The Library Cafe, Goodes Café, Student Street Express, and Wally's.

On Wednesday, December 11, blend your smoothie using pedal power at Jean Royce dining hall. Theresa will be set up in the seating area, ready to help you build and blend your creation from 8 – 9:30 am.
