Today, civic participation occurs at many levels. We make impactful decisions about our community every time we make a purchase, vote, post on social media and, of course, volunteer. We think any awareness we can bring to the many resources that might spur individual action for good, falls right in line with what we’re up to at HandsOn.

Vaccinate State 48
Just six months ago, Arizona began to fully get fully immersed into the business of getting AZ residents vaccinated . We are honored that the organizing partner of the state-run sites, ASURE, invited us to be one of many organizations that came together to vaccinate Arizona.

Between eight locations, that ranged from a community center pop-up to one of the largest vaccine vaccine sites in the country, 27,370 volunteers came out and got 1.6 million shots in arms.

It was amazing to watch the community pull together, as volunteers eased client nerves with humor, listened and comforted strangers, and danced as cars moved through the lines. You could feel the joy and the sense of hope.

We cannot thank ASURE and their staff enough, it was truly an honor to partner with them and to put volunteers to work where they were needed most.

Even with this effort, there is a distance to go to achieve herd immunity. The vaccine effort has changed from mass sites to community pharmacies and doctor offices. Your help to get AZ vaccinated is still needed as infection rates are on the rise. If you have friends and family who are vaccine hesitant, the CDC has a guide to help you support them.

To each volunteer who answered the call to be apart of history, thank you from the bottom of our hearts!
Let's Go Suns!
Seeing the Suns in action has us thinking about the 2009 NBA Cares Day of Service!

We put the All-Stars to work at Cesar Chavez Elementary painting murals, planting trees, upgrading the playground, and helping in the library. It should be no surprise that the late, great Kobe Bryant was among the players who dug in and helped out!

Knowing that the NBA and their players put in the work in the community as much as on the court makes watching the game that much better!
