The Dog Days of Summer...

Keeping cool in the summer heat.

Wow, it has been hot and steamy! How are you coping with this summer heat?

Here are a few ways to keep your cool:

Ayurvedic teachings direct us to drink room temperature water vs adding ice. This may seem counter intuitive however the warm temperature of the water will promote a gentle sweat that will actually keep us cooler for a longer period of time. As well, it won't negatively affect digestion the way iced drinks do. Add cooling herbs such mint along with cucumber, or a splash of aloe vera or even lime juice to your water to help freshen it up and make it more interesting to drink.

Snack on fresh fruit throughout the day. This will aid in hydration.

Curl the sides of your tongue and breathe in deeply. This will naturally cool your mouth and provide a moment of relief if you're feeling overheated.
