HOW TO HELP

CAMP HOPE

Tuesday Evenings in June

AUMC will sponsor Camp Hope again this summer in the Oak Hill neighborhood (Hudson Oaks)! Camps offer low-income families an opportunity for recreation, nutrition info, books, crafts, and Bible stories! We will have camp Tuesday evenings, 6:30-8:00pm, in June. We need lots of folks to help make camp a success! All volunteers must complete Ministry Safe certification, and there will be a volunteer training on Tuesday, May 30 at 6:30pm in the Mac Center. Sign-up at the Welcome Center or contact Trudy for more info.

CARE PORTAL

Aledo UMC has joined other area churches for Care Portal, a program that allows us to be "on-call" to meet the needs of children in foster care in east Parker County. Sometimes a foster family needs an extra twin bed or a larger microwave to accommodate additional children in their home. Or sometimes to return home, parents need items for their children, such as school shoes.

Would you be interested and willing to be on our AUMC text list? If so, when a need arises, we will let you know and perhaps you can help, either with the item or money toward that item. Contact Trudy to register or for more info.

PARKING LOT MINISTRY

WE NEED YOU ... To join our newly forming Parking Lot Ministry Team. Help us provide safe campus, while extending a friendly greeting and welcoming smile to all who enter. We want to be the hands and feet of Christ in our community, and this is the perfect opportunity to become involved in the ministries of AUMC. The pay is nil, but the rewards are excellent!

Sign-up at the Connection Center or for more information, email Marsha Ancona at  nonnacona@gmail.com

MANNA ROOM FOOD PANTRY

If you would like to help feed our neighbors, we are currently short of the following items:

Oatmeal (16 oz. canisters)

Peanut butter (16 oz.)

We are very well stocked with all other items.

We appreciate your faithful support of this ministry! Please no glass jars, bottles, or other breakable containers, and we cannot accept items past their expiration dates. Donations may be placed in the marked bin in the Narthex. Thank you!

LIFE CARE GROUPS

SUPPORT GROUPS FOR AREAS OF LIFE

Our groups are open to adults in our community who are experiencing life's challenges. We all have difficult times in our lives when we need loving, compassionate support.

  • Alzheimer's Support Group & Kaleidoscope - meets the second Thursday of each month at 1:00pm.
  • Cancer Support Group - meets the second Tuesday of each month
  • Caring Hearts/Stephen Ministers - AUMC is blessed to have many compassionate, caring men and women who are available to visit and pray with you. If you're going through a struggle or difficult time, they offer a confidential, listening ear and a word or prayer. Whether you just want to visit once or twice, or if you need a long-term prayer partner, kind folks are here to support you! Contact our Director of Congregational Care (trudysmith@aledoumc.org) for more information.
