School Closed February 3 and 4
|
|
Due to the inclement weather and hazardous road conditions, the Trivium Academy campus will be closed on Thursday, February 3, and Friday, February 4. The make up days will be April 18 and May 31. Please make sure to add these school days to your calendar. We hope everyone stays safe and warm, and we'll look forward to seeing everyone back on campus next Monday.

Letter from the Principal
|
|
Part of being a “closed campus” for lunch means we cannot accept food deliveries throughout the day. We cannot accept Door Dash (or other food delivery services) deliveries for your children. This also applies to our secondary students, many of whom have been placing orders for themselves. If you forget to pack your child’s lunch, please drop the lunch on the front porch on the designated lunch cart prior to 11:30. Please label with your child’s name. We will not be accepting lunches at the door to prevent additional exposure to the school. We will be pulling lunches from the lunch cart at 11:30 AM to be delivered to classrooms, so please plan accordingly. We are following all precautions we can to keep our campus safe, and we appreciate your help with this.
The good news is that we will begin serving a Chick-fil-a lunch on Mondays and Fridays beginning the week of February 14. Look for a link to order coming soon! Lunches will be $6 each for both the sandwich and the nuggets. Chips and bottled water will also be included. We will need help distributing lunches, so if you have not signed up to help with Lunch Bunch, this is a good time to consider joining.
We will also begin our course selection meetings for middle and high school in March. There will be information to follow, but the dates are March 1 for 6th-7th grades and March 8 for 8th-11th grades.
There have been many celebrations around here from science fair to our Noble Knight Awards. We are so excited to have parent help once again. Our staff feels fortunate to be surrounded by such wonderful students and families. Thanks for your continued support and your willingness to help. It does take a village, and we have a terrific one.
Proud to be a Knight,
Marsha Cawthon
Principal

Open Enrollment for 2022-2023
|
It is open enrollment time for the next school year for any new-to-Trivium students! If there is a sibling of a current student who would like to attend Trivium next year, make sure to apply by February 11. Siblings of current students are given priority for placement during this window, but after February 11, siblings will be placed on the waiting list in the order their application is received. Please share the word and let your friends know that the 2022-23 application is now available!
|
|
Please note that this application is for new students only. The re-enrollment form below is for current students.
|
|
The Re-enrollment form for 2022-2023 is now live. Please let us know your plans for next year by clicking on the button below and filling in the form. If you are planning to return to Trivium, filling in this form will hold your children's spot as long as they remain enrolled at Trivium until the end of the 2021-2022 school year. Please complete this for each child who currently attends Trivium by Monday, February 14 at noon.
We hope that all of you are planning to return, but as a school of choice, we do understand that sometimes you need to make a different choice for your family. Even if you are not planning to return, we do ask that you fill in this form so that we know there will be a spot available for a student from the waiting list.

We LOVE Our School!
Enjoy a recap in photos of School Choice Week 2022!

3rd through 6th grade participated in our annual science fair, and WOW, the projects were amazing! The top 5 or 6 projects from each grade level were selected by teams of grade level teachers to advance as finalists. Finalists' projects were then judged by 5 anonymous guest judges with backgrounds in science. Students competed in a 3rd-4th grade category, and a 5th-6th grade category. All finalists and winners were recognized at our weekly assembly on Monday 1/31, and we couldn't be prouder of their hard work, effort, and demonstration of scientific thinking! #buildingthinkers

We strive to add unique lifetime sports that students can learn to play and continue playing well into their adulthood. By adding disk golf to our secondary PE program it will open up new doors for our students who want to be a part of a team.
I have created a request on DonorsChoose to help us bring disk golf to Trivium. Click on the link to visit my page:
Give to my students by February 8 and your donation will be doubled thanks to DonorsChoose. Just enter the code LIFTOFF on the payment page and you'll be matched dollar for dollar (up to $50).
If you chip in to help my students, we'll be incredibly grateful.
Thanks so much,
Coach Zea
P.S. If you know anyone who may want to help my classroom, please pass this along!

Save the Date: Trivium Golf Tournament!

As we take on the newest variant of COVID-19, we continue to implement the same precautions that we've been maintaining for almost 2 years now. We are sanitizing, handwashing, encouraging social distancing, and notifying parents of close contacts. We are encouraging mask wearing during the spike to slow the spread. We will get through this spike together.
While the Texas Education Agency has released new quarantine guidance for school staff who have COVID-19 or have been in close contact with someone who does, there is no change to the quarantine period for students at this time. The quarantine period for students remains at 10 days following the Texas Department of State Health Services which schools must follow. TEA Commissioner Mike Morath said districts should expect updates to the student part of the quarantine guidance, but to date, no changes have been made. We will keep you posted if anything does change.

To report an absence please email a parent note or medical excuse for each absence to [email protected]. Include the student’s name, grade, and homeroom teacher. You may attach doctor’s notes to the email or turn them in to the front office. After three parent notes, our school policy requires a medical note to excuse an absence.
Elementary (K-6th) Attendance is taken daily at 9:20am.
Secondary (7-11) Attendance is taken at the beginning of each class period. Official attendance for the day is taken at 9:30.
If your student is marked absent an auto generated email is sent to the parent if that option has been selected in the Parent Portal. These emails will always state that the absence is unexcused. Also, students who are quarantining due to COVID-19 will be marked absent by the homeroom teacher. The attendance office will later code the absence appropriately based on the documentation received.
As a public school, we must follow Texas Education Code (TEC) 25.092 which states that a student may not be given credit for a class unless the student is in attendance for at least 90% of the days the class is offered. That means a student may only be absent seven times in the fall semester and nine times in the spring semester to retain credit for the grade level. If your child has absences beyond those numbers, you may be asked to appear before the attendance committee. The attendance committee may give class credit to a student who is in attendance less than the number of days required because of extenuating circumstances.
We take the responsibility of educating our students seriously, and excessive absences can hinder a student’s progress and the school’s ability to provide for his/her educational needs. We do understand that children get ill, and we certainly understand when they are too sick to come to school. We appreciate your help in making sure your child is present for school at all other times.
