“This particular film is one of the most piquant,

thought-provoking documentaries I’ve ever seen.”

Professor Emerita Fran Pritchett

One summer in Nootka Sound, on the west coast of Vancouver Island, BC, a young killer whale, Luna was separated from his pod and tries to make contact with people. The authorities decide that human interaction is not good for Luna and intervene. Police make arrests and levy fines but people continue to try to meet Luna. As the two sides battle over Luna on the wind-swept waters, the young whale has much human interaction. Nothing goes as planned on Nootka Sound. Even the filmmakers get swept up in events that catch everyone by surprise and challenge the very nature of the mysterious bond we call friendship.
