City Reopens Application For Home Repair Program

The City of Forest Park has officially reopened the online application for its Homeowner Maintenance Enhancements (H.O.M.E.) Program. Launched in 2023 by Mayor Angelyne Butler, MPA, and the Forest Park governing body, the H.O.M.E. Program provides up to $10,000 in grant funding for qualifying residents ages 18-61 to help cover the cost of eligible repair work, including HVAC repairs, roofing issues, window replacements, shower installations and more. This is the second phase of the program, with the first phase aimed at supporting legacy residents ages 62 and older.

Groundbreaking Held For New MARTA Operations Facility In Forest Park

Have you heard the news? MARTA officially broke ground on its new operations and maintenance facility here in Forest Park. Mayor Butler Recognized For Outstanding Leadership, Public Service

Forest Park Mayor Angelyne Butler, MPA, has been recognized by two prestigious organizations for her outstanding leadership and commitment to public service. Mayor Butler, who has served as the city's highest-ranking elected official since 2018, received both the 100 Women of Influence Award from the Atlanta Business League and the Elected Women of Excellence Award from the National Foundation of Women Legislators.


Under her leadership, Forest Park has seen a surge in capital investments and expanded revitalization efforts to support economic development growth throughout Clayton County's largest municipality. We congratulate Mayor Butler on this wonderful achievement!

Public Notice: Property Tax Bills Due Friday, December 20

The City of Forest Park is excited to announce the launch of our brand new customer service site to pay your property taxes online! You can find your tax bill by using your name, parcel number or address.

City Council Approves $23.46 Per Hour Minimum Wage For Employees

In a groundbreaking move to ensure economic justice and improve quality of life for its employees, the Forest Park City Council unanimously voted to increase the city’s minimum wage to $23.46 per hour. This historic decision reflects the city’s commitment to providing fair compensation, attracting top-tier talent and setting a benchmark for surrounding municipalities. The new wage rate, which is more than three times higher than Georgia’s state minimum wage of $7.25 per hour, will apply to all full-time city employees, reaffirming Forest Park’s dedication to supporting its workforce, reducing economic inequality and contributing to a thriving economy. Councilwoman Akins-Wells (Ward 4) Hosts Annual Thanksgiving Giveback Event

Thank you to everyone that contributed to the success of this year’s annual Turkey Giveback event presented by Councilwoman Latresa Akins-Wells (Ward 4). A huge thank you to Fellowship of Faith for 150 food boxes, bunches of collards and 150 turkeys, as well as Tenisha Dixon, our fantastic Public Works Department, firefighters and community volunteers. We also partnered with Change Center Mentoring and KOD, who both helped out a lot to make sure the event was one of the biggest holiday giveback events ever held!

Fire Department Personnel Participate In Live-Action Training

Taking care of business through hard work and preparation. Here are some real-time snapshots from our incident response / team drills led by our experienced command and training staff. A firefighter's direct knowledge of a building's structure, potential hazards and layout is often the most important factor in facilitating an effective response fire situation. Exercises like these serve as a valuable education platform for department personnel to cover the importance fire safety, technique, but above all, team work!

Business Association Breakfast Offers Networking, Professional Resources

Did you know that according to the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, small businesses make up 99.9% of all companies throughout the nation? Led by Director Marsellas Williams, our Economic Development team hosted a Forest Park Business Association Breakfast that featured two phenomenal and engaging presentations by Govantez Lowndes, Area Director with The University of Georgia Small Business Development Center at Clayton State University and Trina K. with Bank OZK. From learning more about incredible marketing strategies to sharing ways access capital and funding, the city remains focused on connecting businesses owners to valuable resources and professional networking opportunities.

City Celebrates Small Business Saturday

The City of Forest Park was proud to recognize several local business owners in celebration of National Small Business Week. Each year, the special commemorative week showcases small businesses and vendors as the gear up for the holiday shopping season. A big shoutout to the following businesses for participating in the city's promotional campaign: Peoples Janitorial Supplies, One: 11 Studios, Ms. Jerrie's Cafe, Special Rims LLC, Trustee Drugs and Atlas Strength and Conditioning.

Participants Graduate From Forest Park Citizens Police Academy

Congrats to all the graduates from the latest cohort of the Forest Park Citizens Police Academy. The purpose of the academy is to educate the citizens of Forest Park as to what training members of the police department have to go through in order to become certified officers. Topics covered during the eight-week course include criminal and crime scene investigations, patrol operations, training, E911 and professional standards.
