Dear Saint Mark Family,

I pray you have had a good week, and you have lived in a way that reflected your faith and bore witness to Jesus Christ.

I want to begin by congratulating all our high school and college graduates! We are proud of you and your hard work. You stay committed to completing what you have started, even during the midst of a pandemic, and you have now reached the other side. Well done! We are excited for the new path you will begin and forge, and we will hold you in prayer as you go.

I must express my deep gratitude to you Saint Mark for the kinds words and well wishes you have shared, for your emails, cards, prayers, flowers and hugs as I completed my doctorate and graduated last Saturday and Monday. I am truly thankful for your support. With graduation now behind me, I am excited about all the tangible ways I can incorporate different aspects of my research and work in the ministry we do here at Saint Mark and in the Midtown community. Thank you, Saint Mark.

Starting this Sunday, we will have Tabitha Jamal, our Candler Summer Intern, joining us. Tabitha is a native of Pakistan, and has just completed the first year of her MDiv studies at Candler School of Theology. Tabitha was a high school teacher in her home country. Before starting Candler, she spent a year as an Immersive Member at the Community of St. Anslem in Lambeth Palace, London, where she worked with the L’Arche community under the Abbotship of Archbishop Justin Welby. Tabitha will be with us until the first week of August.

As you see her over the weeks introduce yourselves, and welcome her to the life and ministry of Saint Mark.

There will be a great opportunity this summer for our Young Adults and friends to participate in a 6 weeks financial literacy study. Mitch Foster will lead the young adults each week in knowing the skills to make prudent and effective financial decisions, as good stewards of what God has entrusted to them. The study will be on Wednesdays, starting June 7, from 5:30 – 7:30pm. Dinner will be served and they will meet in the young adult room. If you need more information, please contact Rev. Jess or Meagan Williams.

God bless you, Saint Mark. May you continue to live as a people of integrity.

Pastor Carolyn.
