PRESIDENTIAL FODDER
I hope that you had a great summer and took full advantage of the great weather we had. Some of our CIFST members got to travel for the first time in a couple of years and explored Canada and beyond. While COVID continues to impact our daily existence, it almost feels as if we have begun to return to normal. So we must continue to be vigilant as fall and winter force us to move from the great outdoors to indoors.

The CIFST has a great fall and winter program and some great news that will help propel the Canadian food industry to the next level.

On Sept 28th, in collaboration with the Canadian Food Innovation Network (CFIN), the CIFST is presenting at the Delta Hotels by Marriott Toronto Airport & Conference Centre the CIFST ALT 2022. CIFST ALT aims to be cutting edge, eye-opening and mind blowing. It is an innovation showcase that will provide the food sector with an opportunity to showcase ALTERNATIVE Innovations via our Showcase Sessions. Each session will be delivered twice during the event. Please click go to the CIFST ALT 2022 HOME PAGE and register either to reserve a spot as a Supplier Showcase Speaker or register as an attendee.

Our fall programming begins this week with our acclaimed bi-weekly Knowledge Bites Webinars. Currently, we are booked into November so lots of opportunities for our members to share their expertise and knowledge via this acclaimed webinar series. Please note that our “operators” are waiting for your call to reserve your knowledge bite webinar. To register, click HERE for our September 21st webinar, it's FREE for CIFST members.

Returning after more than a two year absence are more CIFST section in person and live events. On Sept 13th is the CIFST Montreal Section golf tournament on Sept 13th immediately followed by the CIFST Toronto Section golf tournament on Sept 14th.  On November 8th we continue with live and in person events, the CIFST Toronto Section Suppliers night that will be held on Nov 8th at the International Centre. To get the full calendar of the section events please consult the EVENT SECTION on the CIFST website.

The biggest initiative the CIFST is launching is the CIFST FOOD CLUSTER. We are proud as an organisation to have been considered for such an important role in the food industry by Agriculture and Agri-food Canada (AAFC).  If approved this initiative will help propel the Canadian food industry to the next level. I encourage you to fully engage in this process that is intended to mobilize industry, government and academia through partnerships.
So as you have read the CIFST has been and is very busy adding value to its members and the Canadian Food Industry. We are facilitating the food industry to reach the next level.

Thank you for your support and dedication.
