Principal's Letter

Hello Grant Families,

As 2024 winds down and the holiday season approaches, we’re reflecting on the importance of empathy—our character trait focus for December. Empathy helps students understand and share the feelings of others, fostering kindness, connection, and a stronger sense of community. We’re encouraging our Grant students to look for ways to support their peers, lend a helping hand, and show understanding in their daily interactions. It’s a great time of year to practice these skills at home as well—whether through acts of kindness or simply listening to one another.

I’d also like to take a moment to emphasize the continued importance of attendance. December is often a busy month, but it’s crucial that students stay engaged and present as we wrap up the semester. Every day counts, and being at school on time ensures that students don’t miss out on valuable learning opportunities and time with their classmates. Let’s finish 2024 strong!

As always, thank you for your support and partnership in making Grant Elementary a wonderful place to learn and grow. I hope this season brings joy and togetherness to you and your families.

Love,

Mrs. Searcy

Husky Highlights

Fourth grade students dissected pig hearts as an end-of-module task after spending several weeks learning about the figurative and literal meaning of greatheartedness.

Third grade students celebrated their study of giant squids by dissecting squids. They even had a special guest giant squid!

Kindergarten read "Balloons Over Broadway" which is about the 1st Macy's Day Parade in 1924. To celebrate, our Kindergarteners paraded down the halls with their balloon creations.

Ms. Garland's classroom had a Giving Thanks Celebration just before Thanksgiving break. Families chose a dish from their family culture/tradition and shared it with the class.

Our K-2 classrooms recently took a field trip to Lewis & Clark High School to watch their theatre department perform "Beauty & the Beast".
