Dear People of Saint Paul’s Church:
In the past week, the overall situation at the local hospitals has become even more critical and stressful. A congregant of this Church shared the following: “AU Health is beyond capacity with the highest census that I have ever heard in 30+ years of working there… other areas (such as the clinics/ OR rooms/ Recovery Room/ Endoscopy) are being converted to patient care areas and there are 32 patients in our ED waiting for a hospital bed at this time. This variant is also impacting children with a significant increase in hospitalizations in our Children’s Hospital…. Other area hospitals are experiencing the same situation which is maxing out the health systems in the CSRA. Our AU Health family is very fatigued as well as the healthcare providers in the other organizations… we need prayers for the patients and the providers… this pandemic is significantly impacting healthcare in our community!”
Augusta is known for its medical community, and we are proud of their efforts. To show that appreciation, all members of this community are called upon to support their efforts to combat this disease and to try to reduce transmission of the disease to those who are vaccinated and those who are not. Over the past weeks, we have tried to make obvious accommodations to meet those goals. As we move forward, it’s difficult to make changes in our worship practice from week to week.
THE VESTRY RESPECTFULLY ASKS THAT EVERYONE WEAR A MASK. We respect your decision about your personal health choices, but as we know, churches are not immune from spreading the virus. Our options in the management of the Church are affected by the health of our community and our church. Please do not come to church if you feel unwell. Please sanitize your hands as you enter and leave. Please avoid physical contact with others before, during and after the services. Please help us keep the doors open and each other safe and well.
Yours,
Ashley Wright
Senior Warden
