And Mary said:

“My soul magnifies the Lord, and my spirit has rejoiced in God my Savior.

Luke 1:46-47

As we look into the character of Mary, we see a truly beautiful woman. Mary carries qualities like humility, purity, obedience, kindness, and wisdom. Among the many ways in which she is a good example to us today is the way she surrendered to God's plan with rejoicing and humility. To come to a place of gratitude, praise, and rejoicing, as we trust God, is a very affective weapon in spiritual warfare. We war against our flesh while we are grateful even in situations of anxiety or sadness. Mary was chosen by God to conceive and carry our Savior and King. That must have been a heavy load to carry for a young Jewish girl. Yet through this journey, Mary humbled herself before God, surrendered to His will, and was empowered by the Holy Spirit to fulfill what was asked of her. Obedience to God is worship. Can we give God our yes today with a song of praise on our lips?
