Be Well: Building Confidence, Adaptability and Optimism
Would you like to develop strategies for building your well-being? If so, please join us for any or all of the four sessions of ‘Be Well’ when we will use a variety of approaches, including discussion, activities and mindfulness techniques, to address the following topics:
- Overall health & wellness
- Coping with stress
- Managing motivation/procrastination
- Exploring identity
- Navigating relationships with self and others
- Mindfulness strategies
- Supports
The group will be held virtually on Wednesdays from 11 a.m. – noon for four weeks, starting October 6 and running on October 13, 20 and 27.

Thrive at King's: Personally and Academically
Want to feel and do better but don’t know where to start? ACSD is offering a series of six workshops to help students academically and personally. During these workshops we will address topics such as:
- Activating agency - Transitions
- Building new habits - Perseverance and persistence
- Cultivating curiosity - Connections & compassion
- Leading from strengths - Flourishing
- Wide awake learning - Balance
Build motivation, optimism and resilience along with learning essentials like time management and effective studying. You can shift your university experience to something better.
Thrive will be on Fridays beginning October 15 from 10:30 a.m. - noon.
This group is being offered virtually through Zoom only.

Personal Counselling
Students in need of counselling can access support through Student Affairs. At Accessibility, Counselling & Student Development, they have caring professional counsellors to support students in managing personal concerns more effectively.
King’s is offering same-day individual counselling. To set up an appointment with a counsellor, please complete the appointment request form or call 519-433-3491 ext. 7800.

Be on the Ice Rink Committee
King's University College Students' Council is planning to redevelop the ice rink (behind Alumni Hall) to make it a more useful space for students. If you are interested in the development of the proposal for this project, please reach out to Andrea Jolliffe at general.manager@kucsc.com.

International Thanksgiving Dinner
King's International is hosting a Thanksgiving dinner for students who may have never experienced one before. This dinner is for international students only.

St. Joseph's Hospitality Centre
Our community will be returning to the St. Joseph's Hospitality Centre on October 9 to distribute bagged lunches from 11 a.m. - 1:30 p.m. We are in need of pre-packaged, non-refrigerated food donations such as juice boxes, granola bars, raisins, fruit cups etc. We are also looking for volunteers to help at the Hospitality Centre on October 9. Archive Fever
King's English students are invited to visit the Eaton Special Collections room, located on the main floor of the King’s library. This room contains a number of fascinating rare books and manuscripts, some of which date back to the medieval period.

Art for Heart's Sake: Artwork on the King's Campus
English students are invited to tour artwork found across the King’s campus. This includes paintings, stained glass and sculptures. How many works can you find? Who are the artists? Feel free to browse on your own or bring along a friend or two.

In Progress: A Writing Café for English Students
English students can meet informally on Friday afternoons for an hour in order to work together quietly on any of their essay assignments, and then stay on for an optional half-hour to discuss and support their work-in-progress. Students may want to appoint a student moderator each time.
Every Friday at 2 p.m. in the King Student Life Centre (SLC).

Did you know that your English professors are always in the library at King’s? We literally live in the stacks on the second floor! Come and find the books they’ve written, check them out of the library, read them at your leisure, and let your English faculty know what you think.

The School of Mathematics, Economics and Management (MEM) is hosting a MEM Help Centre for specific courses throughout the week. These help sessions are available Monday to Thursday from 6 p.m. - 8 p.m. and on Fridays from 2 p.m. - 4 p.m. Students do not need an appointment and can drop-in at any time during the designated hours.

MOS Internship Information Session
The School of Mathematics, Economics and Management (MEM) is hosting an information session for those who might be interested in learning more about the Management and Organizational Studies (MOS) Internship Program. Students can attend this information session and learn more about the opportunity to participate in an eight to 16 month for-credit, paid internship during their degree.

Listen to the MADS Podcast to Win Air Pods!
The King's Econo Math Society (KEMS) has released its first episode of the Mondays for Analytics and Data Science (MADS) Podcast. It is written and hosted by former KEMS Club president and King's graduate, Chris Quadros '21, and current KEMS Club president and third year BMOS student, Stephanie Figueiredo. The podcast covers introductory principals on game theory, how it is relevant in everyday decision making and what linear programming is.
Like, comment or subscribe on Spotify or YouTube to be entered into a draw for air pods, or enter through the KEMS Instagram. The winner will be announced on the second podcast in late October.

Western's On-Campus Vaccination and Testing Centre Is Open
Western’s on-campus vaccination and testing centre is open in the Graphic Services Building. Students can book an appointment for first and second doses of the COVID-19 vaccine, as supply allows. Any registered student with an active Western username and password can book a test or a vaccine appointment using the online booking tools. Some walk-in appointments are available.

Dr. David Malloy, King's President, addresses the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation: "We all have a responsibility to listen, learn and take time to reflect about the impact of residential schools. We wear orange today to honour and support those who survived residential schools and to remember those who did not."

Social Work Professor Contributes to Meaningful Conversation with New Project
Dr. Rick Csiernik of the King’s School of Social Work will ally with Trinidadian-born author Grace Ibrahima to deliver black answers to white questions from grade five to eight students at The Ken Seiling Waterloo Region Museum.

JOIN US FOR SUNDAY EUCHARIST
Sunday Eucharist takes place in a beautiful chapel built by the Sisters of St. Joseph, at Windermere on the Mount, 1486 Richmond St. (the corner of Richmond Street and Windermere) - only a 15 minute walk north of campus. Masses are at 9 a.m., 11 a.m. and 5 p.m. The 11 a.m. Mass is live-streamed to our Facebook page and YouTube Channel. The 5 p.m. Mass has resumed on Sundays, followed by a community meal (served outdoors, COVID and weather permitting). For capacity and contact tracing purposes, we kindly ask that you register for Mass in advance here. Go to the back of the building and follow the signs. We hope to see you there!

DAILY MASS: Daily Mass is being offered on Wednesdays and Fridays at noon in Christ the King Chapel (first floor of Wemple Building). Space is very limited. Please contact the Campus Ministry office at 519-963-1477 or lisa.caeiro@kings.uwo.ca to reserve a space.

ANNUAL STUDENT RETREAT: October 22 to 24. As pandemic restrictions allow, this is being planned as an in-person experience at Holy Family Retreat House in Harrow, Ontario.
