CCSD93 strives to maximize the academic, social & emotional potential of each student.

Dear Friend of CCSD93,

Message From

Superintendent Hill:

As a school district, student safety is our highest priority. As we continue to work to ensure student wellbeing in and around our buildings, we also wish to help our parents stay current on the ever-evolving subject of online safety.

To this end, I’m pleased to announce that we have partnered with renowned cyber crimes expert Detective Rich Wistocki to host a parent presentation called Keeping Kids Safe Online on Wednesday, September 21, 2022 from 7-8:30 p.m. You’re invited to attend this parents only event in person at CCSD93’s District Office, 230 Covington Drive in Bloomingdale or online at www.ccsd93.com/kkso.

The ways children engage with technology and social media platforms are constantly changing, and it’s almost impossible for parents to keep up. Whether your child interacts with technology regularly or you’re the parent of a little one, you won’t want to miss this eye-opening parents-only evening about keeping kids safe online.

During this cutting edge presentation, Detective Richard Wistocki will share strategies and surprising information that will help you understand what’s going on with your child’s technology, including the following topics:

  • How to approach the topic of online safety with your child
  • Understanding what’s on your child’s phone apps
  • Methods that internet predators use to access children through cell phone apps
  • Dangers of social media posting, online gaming, and file and video sharing
  • Controlling and monitoring your home’s computers & your child’s cell phone
  • Safe cell phone options for your child
  • Sexting
  • Cyber-bullying
  • Parent Q & A

I hope you’re able to join us for this valuable presentation in person or online.

Track Your Child's Bus With FirstView App Starting Next Week

CCSD93 is pleased to share that the FirstView™ bus tracking and transportation communications app will go live next week! Parents of bussed students will receive a message after Labor Day with information that will enable you to download and log into the app to track your child’s bus location in real time throughout the school year.

Please know:

  • There are new credentials for adding each student for this year, so if you had added students to your account during a previous school year, you will need to do so again following the steps in the email being sent next week.
  • Moving forward, CCSD93 will not send emails and text messages when buses are delayed. The FirstView app provides much more accurate timing than CCSD93’s direct communications can. Please plan to use the app to check on your child’s bus timing.

For more, visit www.ccsd93.com/firstview.

Please review the information below for more from CCSD93, and have a terrific long weekend!

Sincerely,

Dr. David H. Hill

Watch Them Grow: WT 5th Graders Learn Firsthand!

While learning about plants and ecosystems, Western Trails 5th graders are literally bringing their lessons on cell structure and photosynthesis to life by growing their own vegetation. The school’s classes have contributed to planting, watering and maintaining their crop of beans, lettuce and grasses starting from seeds. As the plants sprout, students transfer them to the school’s hydroponic tower garden, which helps them to grow efficiently, using 90% less water than traditional gardening. We’re excited to see how the veggies and students’ knowledge expand this year!

ECC Parents: Attend Curriculum Night on 9/7!

Every CCSD93 school holds a Curriculum Night to help parents become more acquainted with their child's education and this school year. This year, they are again being held as in-person events after being held virtually for the past two years. While our elementary and middle schools have already hosted them, Early Childhood Center families, be sure to mark your calendar for Wednesday, September 7, 5:30-7 p.m and be sure to attend this parents-only event!

Interested in Being a Substitute Teacher?

We're always looking for qualified substitute teachers. If you've got a passion for educating students, you are invited to attend a virtual substitute teacher license training session with the DuPage County Regional Office of Education on September 8, 2022, which will help you to become a substitute.
