Fall Festival THIS SUNDAY!

We will have our annual Fall Festival and block party THIS Sunday, October 3 at 11:30AM, after the 10:30 service. There will be lunch, a bouncy castle, face painting, the Kona Ice truck, carnival games, and a caramel apple decorating station! Please consider coming with your friends and neighbors!
2022 Stewardship

Our Stewardship Campaign for the 2022 calendar year is about to begin. The theme this year will be ‘Entrusted Treasures, God’s Gifts in Our Hands,’ which will be the subject of a four part sermon series beginning in October. Please prayerfully consider your support of the ministry of our Church in 2022.
Pizza with the Pastor

If you are new to UMCE and would like to find out more about the church, please join Pastor Sarah for pizza on Sunday, October 31st. We’ll gather in the library after the 10:30 service for an informal time of getting to know one another better and an opportunity to discover more about UMCE! If you’re interested, please RSVP to the church office by Thursday, October 28th.
EChO Food Drive

Thank you to everyone that participated with the neighborhood EChO food drive! 413 pounds was delivered this week! An extra thank you to our wonderful youth group for their tireless help with making this happen!
Calling All Musicians

If you are interested in doing special music on Sundays, please see the sign up in fellowship hall or email Nathan. Please sign up for just one Sunday, for now, so that everyone who wants to provide special music has the opportunity. If you have any questions email Nathan Jensen.
8:30am Ushering Help

We are in need of more ushers for the 8:30am service. It's usually on a rotating basis, approximately once per month, depending upon the number of sign ups. Please contact Penn Gildersleeve or the church office.
Sunday Adult Education Class

Come meet with fellow church members in the library between the two services. All are welcome! Hope to see you at 9:30 am on the coming Sundays.

Our own Pem Dunn, master artist and designer of our church's stain glass windows, will shares his art with the class. As many of you know Pem's recent illness caused him to completely lose his sight in his right eye and partial sight in his left eye. This didn't stop him from painting. Now, some say his paintings are even better. Come hear his story.
Messy Church

October 13th we'll be launching this year's Wednesday program. Messy Church is a family-oriented church service that we'll be holding from 6-7PM with Pastor Sarah every week. This is a great opportunity for a casual, kid-friendly worship service with something for everyone! There will be crafts, games, discussions, and a brief message.
Eagle Scout Project Help Needed

Landon Hartman, local Eagle Scout, is coordinating a project for UMCE.

For my eagle project, I've decided to reconstruct a retaining wall at the Evergreen United Methodist Church. The wall's an average of 3 feet high and made out of landscaping timbers. Over time, the hill has bent the wall into the parking lot. Your mission, should you choose to accept it, will be to deconstruct then straighten the wall. We'll do this by prying ties off the wall, digging back dirt, replacing timbers(straight this time), then backfilling the wall with filter fabric and pea gravel.

Each day, we'll arrive at the wall at 9 and finish around 3. On the first day I'll divide you up into groups based on skills (dig crew, deconstruction, reconstruction, etc.) then we'll go over the proper way to use tools and then get to work. If you have shovels, pry bars, sledgehammers, wheelbarrows, eye-protection, or gloves I would appreciate it if you brought them (gear check-in google sheet). The project should only take two days, but the 9th is a possible make-up day if we take longer due to the weather.

In order to limit Covid-risk, we'll be doing temp-screening at the check-in and we ask that anyone who's feeling sick stay home. The bathrooms will be inside the church when you're inside the building we also ask that you wear a mask. We'll start each day with a safety briefing and in case anyone gets injured, there will be a first aid kit on site. We're also providing separately packaged water and snacks on-site, and on the last day, I will get food catered by Jimmy Johns. I still recommend that you pack your own water/lunch.

Because this is a fairly large project, I'm going to need a lot of help, so please sign up on the sign-up genius as early as possible so I know whether to contact a larger group. For more information, look at the proposal presentation.
