Attitude Is Everything

Starting the Week Off Right

September 6, 2022

Good Morning,

Growing up, I always heard the saying "Sticks & Stones May Break My Bones But Words Will Never Hurt Me". My kids heard "Buck Up Bucko, Suck It Up Buttercup". In my mind, they both mean the same thing.

Maybe I am old but, today, it seems like every word uttered offends someone. We, constantly, hear of the various social media platforms taking down posts because they might be offensive or promote an alternative view that might or might not be true. We change the names and mascots of sports teams because they could be considered offensive.  The " Word Police" appear so prevalent that we, as a society, have become afraid to say, write, or think anything for fear it may offend someone and result in repercussions to us personally.

Freedom of speech is an important part of the glue that holds this great nation together. Each of us needs to stand up for who we really are and be willing to defend it. We shouldn't expect to change others in any way but, sticks and stones or not, we should stand up for and defend what we truly believe.
