WINTER BASKETBALL

We are just about to turn the page onto the month of October which means our "Early Bird" discounted pricing for our GVBL Winter Rec League will be expiring.

Registration for the winter rec league is considerable at this point and we suspect that we will be over-subscribed. Gym space continues to be an issue so we will most likely be limiting the participants per division. Once again, the goal will be to go back to the pre-pandemic GVBL formula of one practice and one game per week for all teams.

For grades 1-8, skills assessments will finish by the end of October followed by team assignments by early November. Practices begin the week of November 8th. So please register ASAP if you plan to participate.

"Early Bird" registration of $150 ends 10/1.
Regular registration of $175 ends 10/26.
There is no sibling discount.
Waitlisting begins Oct. 26th or when a section fills.
Waitlisting does not guarantee team placement.

There will be one practice (roughly 1 hr) sometime during the week and one game (roughly 1 hr) a week on the weekend. Games and practices will be held at a location with GVSD boundaries. During registration, we allow parents to choose one day a week that will NOT work for practice in order to allow some flexibility in scheduling other activities.

GVBL App
Use it or get left behind on important GVBL Winter League info
For several years, we have been promoting the GVBL app and it will be imperative to use it for all Winter league info. We have found this tool to be the best way to communicate rosters, schedules, updates, info and more. Upon registration, GVBL asks that you take the time to download the GVBL app and use it as your main source of info for our GVBL programs.
Thanks to all! Those interested in joining the club can email basketball@GVCO.org

GVCO Community Partnership
Announcing a new GVCO Partnership

Immaculata.Edu
For many years, GVCO has enjoyed a tremendous relationship with Temple University's School of Sports Tourism and Hospitality Management. Recently GVCO has reached out to Immaculata's Office of Career and Professional Development to initiate a similar relationship. As a local community partner, Immaculata is a natural fit for GVCO as we continue to develop further programming here in the Great Valley Community. Immaculata has strength in areas like adult programs and Education - areas that GVCO plans to focus on with the onset of the new facility. As we move into the new school year, look for GVCO and Immaculata working together for the betterment of our local community.
GVCO Project Update
THE STONE BASE COURSE FOR THE DRIVEWAY & UPPER PARKING LOT HAS BEEN INSTALLED

For 3 straight days last week, Charlestown Paving worked to get the drive/upper parking lot installed. What seemed like 100 truckloads of material were delivered, leveled and than rolled. The picture above is taken from the back of the site from behind the practice field. The pad for the building is on the left. The driveway down to Bacton Hill Rd can be seen at the far end.

The Muck Family
“Yes, count us all in!”

This year, the Muck Family vacationed in Lake Placid, NY. On their second day, one of the kids had the wild idea of hiking Mt. Marcy, the tallest mountain in NY. At the top, you can see as far as Quebec and Lake Champlain.
The hike is 15 miles, 7.5 hours, and 3,574 feet in elevation. What? This is certainly a wild idea! “Yes, count us all in!” During the climb, we passed many other hikers, who offered bits of what to expect ahead and words of encouragement. This picture is at the end of the day, dirty and tired, but the smiles show we were so glad we did it!
The folks at GVCO are embarking on another wild idea with building the community center. It has taken and will continue to require a lot of hard work and determination, and help from others along the way is essential. When GVCO asked us to help with the Capital Campaign, of course, we said “Yes, count us all in!” All six of us have graduated from GVHS and we love Malvern. We see the GVCO Community Center as being a pinnacle in the lives of those of us lucky enough to call Great Valley home and we are sure it will bring smiles to all the faces from young to old in the community at the end of the day.
Keep climbing GVCO!
