My tenure in SHPE’s C-suite has come to a close, and while I am still Board Chair until the end of the year, I wanted to give you a brief summary of what SHPE has accomplished over the last six months. My number one objective was to stabilize and prep the organization for a new CEO so that they could hit the ground running...
DR. CHRIS WILKIE ELEVATED TO CEO
We announced yesterday that Dr. Chris Miguel Wilkie is our new Chief Executive Officer. Chris spent the last four years serving as SHPE’s Chief Operating Officer, making him uniquely qualified to immediately capitalize on the momentum of growth and national impact the organization achieved during the leadership of the previous CEO, Raquel Tamez. Please join us in congratulating him on his new role!
HISPANIC HERITAGE AWARDS ON PBS
On October 8, PBS aired The 34th Hispanic Heritage Awards celebrating Latinx excellence. This year, they honored three Latina NASA Engineers – Christina Hernández, Clara O’Farrell, and Diana Trujillo – for their contributions to human space exploration and the Mars 2020 Perseverance Mission.

#SHPEREADS: GRADS EDITIONS
Join us for our first meeting of #SHPEreads: GRADS (GRaduate & Advanced Degree Students) Edition on October 27 at 7pm ET. We will be reading the paper Survival Skills for Graduate School and Beyond. Download the paper, read it, and come ready to discuss it with the authors! GRADS that register, attend, and participate will receive a $30 Postmates gift card.
