Can the word "no" make your life better?

Is it easy for you to say no?

How to say no in a nice way

One way to say no in a nice way is to express appreciation for the request, but politely decline by saying something like, "Thank you for thinking of me, but unfortunately I won't be able to."

Why saying no is important

Saying no is important for various reasons, such as:

  • Establishing personal boundaries
  • Prioritizing one's own needs and well-being
  • Avoiding over commitment and burnout
  • Maintaining integrity and authenticity
  • Encouraging others to respect one's decisions and boundaries
  • Creating opportunities for more meaningful and fulfilling experiences.

Let's do it together! Grab a sticky and chose a quote to post as a reminder at work or at home.

  • "The difference between successful people and really successful people is that really successful people say no to almost everything." - Warren Buffett

  • "Saying no can be the ultimate self-care." - Claudia Black

  • "Learn to say 'no' to the good so you can say 'yes' to the best." - John C. Maxwell

  • "The art of leadership is saying no, not saying yes. It is very easy to say yes." - Tony Blair

  • "No is a complete sentence. It does not require an explanation to follow." - Shonda Rhimes

SMALL BUSINESS SPOTLIGHT:

The Wright UX

The Wright UX was started by Kim Oden, a product designer with over ten years of experience. We are a black-owned, woman-owned user experience web design agency specializing in user experience design services, app design, and website design.

After working for over 20 years in the insurance industry, I realized this was not my passion. I went to work every day feeling like I was not making a real difference in the world and was ready to make a change. I’d always loved digital design, but I was getting to a place where I wanted my talents to be used to help people like me. People who were a part of any marginalized group. After pondering over this idea for a few months, I decided to work with non-profit organizations while still working my day job. This was a game-changer. After developing relationships with my clients, learning about their ideas, and feeling their frustrations, I knew I was heading in the right direction.

In December 2022, I walked away from my job of 15 years to walk into my purpose of helping small businesses and non-profit organizations from marginalized groups gain a digital competitive advantage.  I offer a full range of user experience design services, including user research, user interface design, usability testing, and more. I am dedicated to creating modern, engaging digital experiences to help my clients reach their goal.
