Life often works in wonderful and mysterious ways, and Michael Boyle – General Manager of Morton Salt in Rittman, Ohio – can attest to that. In 2017, Boyle’s career came full circle as he was welcomed back to the plant where it all started. For the past 28 years, Boyle has worked for Morton Salt in a variety of positions and locations. After living in Chicago, Texas, and Kansas, the Ohio native is happy to be home where both his roots and Morton Salt’s run deep.

Boyle began his career for Morton Salt back in 1992 when he joined the Rittman plant as part of the University of Cincinnati’s cooperative education program. Following graduation in 1996, Boyle accepted a full-time engineering position at Morton and never looked back.

STEAM ROLLIN'
The 2021 Summer STEAM Camp was a huge success. Last month, we partnered with Wayne County Schools Career Center,  Career Connections – Tri-County ESC, and Schantz MakerSpace to launch a two-week-long robotics camp for grades 3-8. The camp was designed to help shape the next generation of makers, creators, innovators, and visionaries. Campers gained valuable experience in coding, building, designing, and engineering robots.

We’d like to thank everyone who helped make this another brilliant event! We look forward to seeing new and familiar faces next year.
DID YOU KNOW, YOU CAN GRAB A BITE TO EAT AT THE OLD WOOSTER COUNTY JAILHOUSE?

Constructed in 1865, the Wooster County jail served and protected the community for more than a century. In 1977, the department was relocated across the street and eighteen years later, the historic landmark was purchased and transformed into a one-of-a-kind restaurant. Known as the Olde Jaol Steakhouse, guests can dine in original jail cells or grab a drink in their prohibition speakeasy. Next time you are in town, make sure to stop by and visit the slammer.
We've heard from our business community that housing has been an issue when it comes to attracting a stronger workforce and The City of Wooster has worked hard to address this concern. Recently, there has been talk of two new housing developments in the works, giving the city something to look forward to.

The Council recently approved a 141-unit housing development along Melrose Drive. The 22-acre lot is set to contain a combination of single-family homes and townhomes.

In addition, the Wooster Development Company and Compak of Wooster have proposed a 91-unit development to be built across from Wooster High School on Oak Hill Road. This proposal will be up for discussion next month at the City of Wooster's next Council meeting.
