Greetings Eagle Chapter Members and Friends
WallWashAug2022
Above, our 'Class Photo' Eagle Chapter Vietnam War Veterans Memorial 'Wall Wash' in Washington DC on August 27, 2022. We had a huge turnout that included the DC Army National Guard and our great Boy Scout Troop #1778 of Waldorf MD. See the article below for details.

Can you feel my excitement? We're just a few days away from our first post-pandemic luncheon at the Pentagon. Brigadier General Collins, the HQ Air Force Director of Security Forces is our guest speaker. Thank-you again sir. Please click on the RSVP image below to register. Note the assigned escort managers. They will assist you with escorted entry to the Pentagon.

So far the only other SF VIP to register for our luncheon is Brig General (Retired) Al Jamerson. Sir - thank-you for registering early!

Early this month, I had the experience of a lifetime. I attended my first Guardmount since 1986. Wow - has things changed!!! When we scheduled a meet and greet with the new commander at the 11th SFS, Major Bruton, he suggested we leave the conference room and greet the oncoming shift at their Guardmount. What a treat this was for me. I know they were eager to get going so I made my comments brief. Thanks also to Karl, Eagle Chapter Vice Chair AFDW Wing, for attending as well. See the images below.

Thank-you to our Eagle Chapter donors - Our services and programs could not exist without your generous support that allows us to operate and serve our SF Airmen, their families, members and our military heritage.

Very respectfully,

"Lee"

Guardmount - This was a really big deal to me. I had not attended an SF Guardmount since 1986. Wow - these guys are extremely impressive. Our forces and resources are in great hands at Bolling. Very awesome!

Thanks to Senior Master Sergeant Chris Fabela who scheduled us for the Guardmount attendance.

National Park Service Ranger Pierce provides safety and technical instructions.
So impressed were we with Ranger James Pierce's assistance throughout the wash, Chief Jones and I collaborated to write a letter of appreciation. Ranger Pierce is a wounded Army vet who lost part of one leg. You'd never know it. He was absolutely outstanding.

Thanks to our Boy Scout Troop again (and their family) plus the DC Army National Guard for making this event exceptional.

In conclusion...
Richard Nucifora pointing to Robert Bridges
Help me help this Vietnam War SF Vet. Richard Nucifora comes down from Milford Connecticut - about a five hour drive - with his wife to attend our Vietnam War Veterans Memorial Wall Wash in Washington DC. He shared with me an event that I was not quite prepared to respond as I should have. In the photo above, he's pointing to the name of Robert E. Bridges. On June 17, 1966 while serving in the Vietnam War, Airman Second Class Robert E. Bridges asked Richard to trade posts with him as he wanted to work up in the tower. Richard agreed.

Later on in their shift, a violent storm cloud enveloped the area, Robert exited the tower enclosure carrying his M-16 rifle aloft. A lightning bolt struck the rifle instantly killing Robert. To this day, Richard feels that he's responsible for Robert's death because he agreed to trade the post with him.

Richard - we're not going to leave you behind on this. My Christian faith tells me that you had as much control over Robert's death as you had on the storm cloud that gathered, that generated the lightning bolt, to take Robert home to his maker that day. Robert's birth, life and death were already written in his book. Nothing you could have done would have impacted the day that our God had pre-determined at his birth the day of Robert's death to come home to be with his Lord. I have passed a charge over to an ordained chaplain, Jim Stastny, of the Vietnam Security Police Association who will follow up with you on this matter. Thank-you for sharing this with me. Eagle - Please join me with praying for Richard.

Guys and gals, we can only serve our Airmen, members and families through your generous donations. Our annual doantion drive starts 1 October. Please send check or money order to our PO Box (see address below) or go to any page of our website, scroll to the bottom of the page, and click on the Donate button to send via secure PayPal. If there is more we need to do, please come to a chapter event and let me know. I'm always in the listening mode.

Very respectfully,

//Lee//
