2021 Presbyterians for Earth Care Conference
THIS SUNDAY, August 1
The conference was recently featured in the Presbyterian News Service and the new hymn for the conference is posted on the website for Presbyterian Outlook Magazine. Many well-respected leaders will be participating, including PCUSA General Assembly Stated Clerk, the Rev. Dr. J. Herbert Nelson, II, who will lead us all on worship on August 8th.
PLEASE NOTE: Registration for the conference has been streamlined and updated, and is now available on our website presbyearthcare.org.

As we continue to read reports of heat waves, forest fires, and flooding in our own country and around the world, we are very grateful for everyone's efforts in caring for God's creation, including by promoting the conference that starts this Sunday.

ANNOUNCING for FALL
BIBLE STUDY
What My Grandmothers Taught Me
Learning from the Women in
Matthew’s Genealogy of Jesus
Tamar, Rahab, Ruth, Bathsheba, and Mary—Matthew names these women for a reason.
How might Jesus have heard the stories of his grandmothers? What might the young Jesus have felt as he heard about his family?
What might the stories of these women have added to his sense of identity, as part of a particular family in a particular time and place?

Have you thought about Jesus’ grandmothers? What can these Grandmothers-of-the-Faith teach us? Their stories will lead us into the gospel, the good news about Jesus Christ. By exploring these stories together, we will have a richer idea of what the good news is.

We will be letting you know in August about our plans for Fall's study dates and how to get your book !

BOOK CLUB for the SUMMER
The Book Club will be meeting over the summer! Here are the books and leaders for our next 2 months.
At Home
by Bill Bryson
AUGUST 10, 1:30pm
Nonfiction - An examination of how the house evolved. Going from the kitchen to the bedroom, the dining room and beyond, Bryson examines the evolution of almost everything— from Thomas Jefferson's contribution to home architecture, to wallpaper, lawns, plumbing, even cemeteries. You'll learn a little about a lot of interesting stuff.
– Led by Janice Hill
Desert Queen:
The Extraordinary Life of Gertrude Bell
by Janet Wallach
SEPTEMBER 14, 1:30pm
Nonfiction/Biography - The daughter of a wealthy British industrialist, Gertrude Bell, comes of age in Victorian England. Intelligent and eager to escape society’s narrow confines, Bell goes off to college and eventually becomes enamored with the Middle East. Her fluency in Arabic facilitates travel in the desert where she encounters Saudi tribes as she makes archaeological discoveries. The knowledge she gains proves valuable to the British military once WWI arrives. A fascinating life and story.
