ASH WEDNESDAY is Wednesday, March 2. Masses are at 8:00am, 12:10pm, and 6:00pm. (The 8:00am Mass will be livestreamed as usual.)

MASS The Sunday and weekday Masses of Lent are the ideal way to grow closer to the Lord Jesus. The scriptural readings for are particularly rich in their ability to inspire and challenge. Weekday Masses are at 8:00am daily, and Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays at 12:10pm.

THE WAY OF THE CROSS is a wonderful Lenten tradition in the Church. There are two opportunities to pray the Stations each week: on Mondays following 12:10pm Mass, and Fridays following the 8:00am Mass (except First Fridays). The Cathedral Stations of the Cross are the work of Joan Brand-Landkamer, inspired by 20th-century French artist Georges Rouault. Find a video Way of the Cross here.

VESPERS AND BENEDICTION OF THE BLESSED SACRAMENT This beautiful prayer is part of the Liturgy of the Hours, the official prayer of the Church. It is celebrated in the Cathedral each Sunday afternoon at 4:00pm.

CONTEMPLATIVE EVENING PRAYER On Fridays, March 4 and April 1 at 6:30pm, you are invited to join in contemplative evening prayer with the music of the ecumenical community of Taizé, France. With haunting chant, instrumental music, and time for silent prayer and contemplation in the candlelit Cathedral, this beloved tradition is the perfect way to enter into the season of Lent.

ADORATION OF THE BLESSED SACRAMENT On Fridays, March 4 and April 1, Exposition will begin following the 8:00am Mass and conclude with the rosary at 11:00am.

THE RICE BOWL is a wonderful way to grow in solidarity with the millions in our world who lack the basic necessities of life. Rice Bowls are in the vestibules of the Cathedral. Daily reflections available at www.crsricebowl.org.

SACRAMENT OF RECONCILIATION This Lent, there are many opportunities to celebrate the sacrament of God’s mercy. Confessions are heard on Saturdays from 8:30am-9:30am (except March 26). Our communal celebrations of the Sacrament of Penance will be Saturday, March 26 at 10:00am and Monday, March 28 at 7:00pm.

VISIT THE CATHEDRAL COLUMBARIUM The Cathedral’s new Columbarium was blessed by Archbishop Etienne on December 22, 2021. A columbarium is a cemetery for the reverent burial of cremated remains. The way we honor the mortal remains of our deceased family members and friends is a reflection of the faith we profess in the Nicene Creed: we believe in the resurrection of the dead, and the life of the world to come. The columbarium is now open for prayer whenever the Cathedral is open. It is a beautiful place to visit and pray for all our beloved dead.

CATHEDRAL DISCOUNT for 2/25 Cappella Romana Concert: Cappella Romana returns to St. James! The renowned professional chamber choir will perform Arvo Pärt’s largest a cappella choral work, the Kanon Pokajanen, the Canon of Repentance, at the Cathedral on Friday, February 25 at 7:30pm. The Eastern Orthodox understanding of repentance especially creates optimism: from the Greek metánoia, a change of mind, a fundamental transformation of one’s outlook.
