We recognize National Disability Employment Awareness Month each October to commemorate the many contributions of people with disabilities to America’s workplaces and economy. The theme for NDEAM 2022, “Disability: Part of the Equity Equation,” recognizes the important role people with disabilities play in a diverse and inclusive American workforce.

OSU Adapted Physical Activity Program
Friday evenings from September 2 - November 4

Exercise Programming Study using the Valemee® Visual System for Adults with Intellectual Disabilities
A study is being conducted on the effectiveness of a proprietary visual system developed at Valemee Fitness to promote lifelong fitness and exercise independence for those with mild to moderate intellectual disabilities. Click here for more information.

  • Each lesson is brief which leaves plenty of time for fun activities.
SIB2SIBS

Sib2Sib is a 4 part program for youth ages 7-12 that are siblings of people with developmental disabilities. Sib2Sib provides an opportunity for sibs to meet each other, have fun, learn about themselves, and know that they are not alone.
  • Getting to know you and other sibs
  • Create your own comic. Read the comic book Adventures from My World by sibling Julie Averbach.
  • Simple discussion on what it is like being a sibling- the good, the bad and the ugly.
  • Learn how to plan a personal goal.

Building a Disability-Friendly Westerville Where All Means All

Diversity & Intersectionality Through the Disability Lens
November 16-18
The Diversity & Intersectionality Through the Disability Lens three half-day training is for any individual or agency looking to expand or gain knowledge on the topics of diversity, intersectionality, cultural education, and individuals with disabilities. Curriculum topic areas include cultural competency vs. cultural humility, privilege and power, microaggressions, trailblazers in the field, best practices, intersectionality, and oppression all through the disability lens. Training material delivery is through lecture, heavy interaction/participation, large and small group discussion, videos, and case scenarios. Click here to register.
