Hey LBSU Community!

I hope that you all are doing well and taking care of yourselves as we progress through the semester. I wanted to take a moment to highlight some upcoming events that you can add to your calendar:

• A Long Beach Mayoral Candidate Forum is taking place tonight, Wednesday, Sept. 21, from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. in the University Student Union (USU) Beach Auditorium. You can find more information here.
• Consider participating in our Career Closet Clothing Drive. We are accepting donations for gently used professional attire. To find drop off locations and more, visit our events calendar.
• If you want to get involved, consider stopping by a Beach Team session. Our weekly meetings help students immerse themselves in campus life through volunteer opportunities, meetings and more.
• Looking to make new friends? Stop by the USU Ballrooms Sept. 26 from 5 to 7 p.m. for our Speed Friending event! You can make new friends and win awesome prizes!

Our ASI Beach Pantry was recently awarded the Go Long Beach Award for aiding hundreds of students throughout the pandemic. Our pantry continued to support our university community by providing access to food through a no-contact mode of delivery.

Also, Long Beach State hosted our 23-sister campuses last weekend for the annual CSUnity conference. The Chancellor, Trustees and other stakeholders visited our campus to interact with student leaders across the CSU system.

Lastly, I would like to encourage you all to register to vote. If you are registered, or are unsure of your voter status, you can follow this link to check. Our campus is participating in this year’s California University and College Ballot Bowl - a friendly competition to increase voter registration. Currently, we are fifth in the competition, so let’s get out there and register! For more information, visit csulb.edu/vote.
