Work Upgrade

Starting May 16, Hampton Tedder Electric, will be conducting Project Work-Upgrade Facilities Florista St. and Walnut St. Construction will take place from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.


• Outage

• Traffic at Florista St. (between Los Alamitos & Walnut) and Alley (between Catalina St to Florista St & Katella Ave to Florista St) will remain closed during this time.


• Please anticipate delays and plan your route accordingly.

Orange County Sanitation District street restoration work that was postponed due to the rain will resume in Los Alamitos along Katella Ave. and onto southbound Los Alamitos Blvd.

Briggeman Street Widening 

The Briggeman Drive street widening project will involve street asphalt and concrete repair work near the intersection of Briggeman Drive from Los Alamitos Boulevard to Reagan Street starting Monday April 10. Through traffic will be facilitated in both directions and alternate routes along Reagan Street and Serpentine Drive can be used. Access to businesses will remain open. Work starts at 8:30 AM.


This project is ongoing until further notice.

Air Traffic Noise Advisory

The Long Beach Airport will be experiencing temporary runway closures between March 29 and mid-July. This has resulted in additional noise traffic and adjustments to the path of travel for airplanes.

Recreation and Community Services

Aquatics

In partnership with the Los Alamitos Unified School District, the City of Los Alamitos Recreation and Community Services Department is excited to announce the return of the Los Alamitos Aquatics Program. The Aquatics Program will run during the summer season, with the goal to bring community-based aquatic programming back to the residents of Los Alamitos and residents of the surrounding area, while providing education in water safety. The program is located at the Los Alamitos High School Pool located at 3591 West Cerritos, Los Alamitos, CA 90720. 

Summer Concerts

We are excited to announce that this summer the MemorialCare Miller Children’s & Women’s Hospital Long Beach Summer Concert Series will be returning! This is an event series taking place all summer long! The first four concerts will be held on Pine Steet and Florista. The last four will be held at Little Cottonwood Park (4000 Farquhar Avenue, Los Alamitos) and Orville Lewis Jr. Park (3662 Kempton Drive, Los Alamitos) with Community Sponsor Randy Hill. Make sure to bring your chairs, blankets, coolers, and snacks to each event! Food will be available for purchase.


Visit the Beverage Garden benefitting the Los Alamitos Community Foundation.

Counselor in Training

The Counselor in Training (C.I.T) program is designed to help participants ages 13 - 16 gain valuable work experience and provide them the opportunity to work alongside Los Alamitos Day Camp Staff. They will assist in preparing camp activities, organizing games, arts and crafts, assist staff with special events, and join in on all the camp fun! There are five sessions being offered this summer, during each session there will be two workshops covering adulting 101 skills. Register today at losalrecreation.myrec.com. Scholarships are available for eligible Los Alamitos residents.

Summer Day Camp Registration is Open

City of Los Alamitos Summer Day Camp registration is OPEN! Register your 5–12-year-old for a summer full of safe, fun, organized indoor and outdoor activities, arts & crafts, special event Fridays, optional excursions, and more catered to the fun theme of the week! Morning and afternoon snack are also provided. Registration can be completed at losalrecreation.myrec.com or in person at the Los Alamitos Community Center (10911 Oak St. Los Alamitos).

Summer Preschool

Don’t let your little one miss out on the opportunity to be a part of the Lil ‘Oak Summer Preschool Program! This summer we will be offering three 2-week sessions with additional optional drop-in days! Preschoolers have the chance to make new friends and learn in a super fun themed environment. Registration is now open and can be made at losalrecreation.myrec.com please refer to the ad for specific times and dates of the program. Scholarships are available for eligible Los Alamitos residents.

Spikeball

Co-ed 18+ Pick-up Summer Spikeball is here! This program will kick off on Monday, June 5 from 7:00 – 9:00 p.m. at Laurel Park (10862 Bloomfield Street, Los Alamitos). The program will run on all Mondays, except July 3, until August 21. Painted courts and equipment are provided. Make sure to bring $5.00 cash for the drop – in fee!


The program will be FREE to attend in the month of July in celebration of Parks Make Life Better Month! 

Summer Parks Program


The Los Alamitos Recreation and Community Services Department is excited to announce the return of the Summer Parks Program will run from June 12-August 11, 2023. Join us on Monday/Wednesday/Friday at Little Cottonwood Park (4000 Farquhar Avenue) and Tuesday/Thursday at Orville R. Lewis Jr. Park (3662 Kempton Drive) from 10:30 am to 4 pm for this free program!


The program is drop-in and registration is not required. The only requirement to participate is a completed medical form for each child. The medical form can be completed on the first day your child attends the program.

Neighborhood Clean Up Event 


Mark your calendars for this year’s Neighborhood Clean Up Event for Los Alamitos residents! In partnership with your waste hauler, Universal Waste Systems (UWS) the City of Los Alamitos will be hosting this event on Saturday, July 15th. This event offers the opportunity to clean up your homes, yards, and neighborhoods of unwanted clutter and debris. In the coming weeks, the City will be distributing noticing to all residents which will provide detailed event information. Stay tuned!

Memorial Day Closure

In observance of the Memorial Day holiday, the City of Los Alamitos Offices will be closed on Monday, May 29, 2023. Except for Police Services. Regular office hours will resume on Tuesday, May 30, 2023, at 7:30 AM.


Street Sweeping & Trash Collection will NOT be impacted due to the holiday!
