FTC Reminds Advertisers That Deceptive Endorsements in Advertising Can Lead to Penalties

In a Federal Trade Commission notice published last week, the agency warned the advertising industry that penalties could be coming for the use of deceptive endorsements. The FTC not only released the notice, but it also sent a letter to hundreds of businesses – advertisers, advertising agencies and a few media companies – reminding them of the FTC’s concerns about deceptive endorsements in advertising. Biden Names Jessica Rosenworcel FCC Chair
President Biden is moving to fill two openings at the Federal Communications Commission, nominating Jessica Rosenworcel as the commission's chair, and former FCC staffer Gigi Sohn to a second vacant seat. Rosenworcel has been serving as the acting chair of the commission and has been on the panel since 2012. Read More

WHTC's Gary Stevens Honored by Holland City Council
On October 6, the Holland City Council honored WHTC-AM/FM (Holland) Morning and Midday host Gary Stevens (real name Gary Ratski) with a resolution declaring October 15, 2021 as “Gary Ratski Day” in Holland. The date coincides with his 20th anniversary at WHTC. He’s been hosting the morning news show for five years and the station’s legacy show, Talk of the Town, since 2019. Read More
