Dear Jefferson Families, 

The annual Jog-A-Thon fundraiser has begun! The Jog-A-Thon is Jefferson's biggest fundraiser and funds assemblies, field trips, classroom grants and campus improvements/beautification to make our great school even better. Packets went home with the students this week and are also accessible for DOWNLOAD HERE. 

Jog-a-thon will be in person this year! In order to limit capacity, Jog-a-thon will be over a 2 day time span - December 9 & 10.

The first deadline is Friday, November 5th for Business and Family Sponsors. For a donation of only $250 or more for a business ($150 or more for a family) a business logo or family name will be printed on 600+ Jog-A Thon t-shirts! 

We need your help reaching out to any potential sponsors you can think of - local restaurants, stores, gyms, etc. If you could send a few emails, make a few phone calls or ask in person it will make a big impact to our fundraising efforts! The Sponsorship Request forms (included in the packet) are a great way to reach out. All donations are tax deductible and all sponsorship $ will be credited to the student that brings them in and their class for earning prizes.

Company matching is another great way to increase family donations.

PTA MEMBERSHIP UPDATES
We are currently at 705 PTA members!! THANK YOU to every parent, teacher, staff, student and other family members who have already signed up for their PTA Membership. Our goal is to have 790 members for the 2021-2022 school year and we are 89% there.

We need 89 more PTA members
to reach our goal!!

All classrooms are so close to getting to 100% participation in the PTA Membership Drive. Every classroom that reaches this goal before November 5th will receive $100 class grant.

HERE’S HOW TO REGISTER!

  1. Scan the QR code to go directly to our TEAM JEFFERSON page and click JOIN TEAM!
  2. Fill out registration information for each walker individually! Sign up your family, friends, neighbors, co-workers and even pets! Each $30 Registration Fee comes BACK to JEFFERSON PLUS MORE!
  3. Make sure to check the box for REDONDO BEACH EDUCATIONAL FOUNDATION so Team Jefferson GETS CREDIT for each of our walkers!

Last year, 173 Walkers = $7,785 back to Team Jefferson!

This year our goal is to have 200 walkers and Mr. Winckler has some rewards for students if we reach our walker goals:

  • 100 registered walkers = 1 homework pass for registered walkers (one pass per each student/family member registered)
  • 150 registered walkers = One homework pass and two “Fun Friday”/Bonus Recess with Mr. Winckler
  • 200 registered walkers = One homework pass, two bonus recess and three throws at Mr. Winckler in a dunk tank.

We are currently at 118 registered walkers.
RBEF COMMUNITY CLASSIC GOLF TOURNAMENT

BATTLE OF THE BOOKS

Battle of the Books (BoB) is a voluntary, reading incentive program for students in 3rd to 5th grades. Students will meet once a month, October through March, to discuss the different books on the reading list and prepare for the trivia battle. In March, randomized teams will be formed and students will compete in a 3-part trivia battle to test their book & author knowledge.

Any student is welcome to participate in the meetings, but in order to participate in the school battles, students must read a minimum of 8 books (3rd grade) and 15 books (4/5th grade) from the attached list for their grade. All students receive prizes and special recognition is given to those who have read all the books on the list.
The first meeting will be held over zoom on Friday, October 15th, at 3pm.

If your child is interested in participating in this program, please fill out the google form below by October 12th!

October is the Down Syndrome Awareness Month. During this month, events take place not only to raise awareness but to shine a light on the abilities and dreams of those with Down Syndrome.
