TONIGHT - BOARD MEETING & LITERACY UPDATE

5:30pm at the Multi-Use Building, 6900 Douglas Ave.

Please attend tonight's board meeting to hear an update on literacy from the English Language Arts (ELA) subcommittee. Strong attendance is critically important because trustees need to see that community members are concerned with the district’s current approach to literacy instruction. A decision (or vote) regarding plans for next year is less than a month away, so now is the time to show up!

Not only is your presence in the meeting important, but having people speak during public comments can also be very effective. If you would like to speak, but are uncertain about the process - our parent volunteers are happy to help. Tuesday, March 22 at 5:30pm: School Board Meeting - ELA subcommittee update

Thursday, March 31 at 7:30am or 12:00pm: Board Workshop - HPISD Administrative presentation regarding concerns about literacy instruction

Tuesday, April 5 at 7:30am: Board Workshop - ELA subcommittee response to admin's presentation and opportunity to share differences of opinion

Tuesday, April 12 at 7:30am or 12:00pm: Board Workshop - Further discussion, if needed

Tuesday, April 19 at 5:30pm: School Board Meeting - ELA subcommittee recommendation (if consensus is reached) or call for a vote
