BEING FOUND FAITHFUL
Like a seed that is planted, growth takes time. There must be the watering process, pruning process, and the growth of the fruit. It does not happen overnight.
Often when a person becomes a Christian, they think they must do something important right away. I have seen new Christians put into roles in the church for which they are not prepared. They often make serious mistakes because they were not ready for that position.
A good pastor, or leader would never do that to a novice. If they do, they are encouraging failure. Even a newborn baby must learn how to go from milk to solid food, from lying still to rolling over, from rolling over to sitting up. Then from sitting up to crawling. Then, from crawling to walking. Again, all this takes time, and each step of growth makes that child stronger. In fact, it has been proven that a child that crawls before walking has better mental growth than the one that does not crawl.
As a new babe in Christ, we need others to train us to be faithful in each stage of our walk. The word tells us in 1 Peter 2:2 says, “As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby.”
We are to desire to grow, and not stay babies. Like a human parent encourages their infant to sit up, crawl, and walk, we need those in the church to help us grow also. In our growth, we are to be taught to be faithful in each phase. Part of that faithfulness might be to do some helps in the church, like mowing the grass, cleaning the church, or even being on time for each service. This produces faithfulness.
I must say again, no one that is a new babe in Christ should be placed into leadership even if they are well respected in their community or are financially independent. Those things do not qualify one to be a leader.
Be found faithful in the little things and watch God help to grow you into the place he has prepared for you in the future. Be content with where you are at until it is time to be elevated.
