The Arabian Horse Association Canadian National Show Decision Revisited by the Board of Directors

At its regularly scheduled Dec. 19 meeting, The Arabian Horse Association (AHA) Board of Directors voted to postpone the AHA Canadian National Arabian and Half-Arabian Championship Show indefinitely. The vote, spurred by a motion to re-visit the Dec. 12 decision to move forward with the 2023 event, was based on recent feedback from AHA’s membership base. New information about the financial impact of the Brandon, MB show also contributed to the decision.

The AHA understands the decision to postpone the AHA Canadian National Arabian and Half-Arabian Championship show indefinitely has major impacts to AHA members as well as participating supporters. AHA President Deborah Johnson commented, “We appreciate the Board of Directors and Canadian National Show Commission’s thorough consideration of the issue, and we look forward to working with Canadian members and the strong community of Arabian enthusiasts in Canada to identify and support programs and events that best serve these groups, as well as the overall financial interests of the Arabian Horse Association. We thank members for their understanding and feedback around what has proved to be a challenging and nuanced decision.”

The Canadian National Show Commission and AHA Board of Directors remain committed to providing AHA’s Canadian membership base with a show and will be looking to the future for new ideas, including the opportunity to collaborate with the Canadian Arabian Horse Registry (CAHR). The Arabian Horse Association wishes nothing but success to CAHR and supports their efforts in rebuilding a show in Canada.
