Principal's Message

Dear Miramonte Community,

Over the past month, 20 of our teachers have attended various educational conferences and workshops related to their subject areas. These sessions focused on important topics like integrating artificial intelligence (AI) into English and Social Science courses, implementing standards-based learning in Math and Science, and promoting equity in all classrooms. Conferences like these offer invaluable professional development, helping our teachers continue to learn, grow, and find new inspiration. Throughout the year, all of our educators take part in similar opportunities.

In addition to this, our core departments—English, Social Science, Math, and Science—are dedicating two days this year to off-site meetings aimed at refining their course curriculum, pacing, and grading expectations. District and site administration expect consistency across common courses, meaning that grading categories and percentages, late work and test retake policies, as well as standards and assessments, will be aligned, regardless of the teacher.

Every Friday morning, our teachers also come together in their Professional Learning Teams (PLTs) to plan for the upcoming week, exchange best practices, analyze student data, and ensure their course materials are aligned.

Our students’ success is driven by their intelligence, hard work, and continuous drive to develop their skills and knowledge. Equally important are our dedicated teachers, who rise to the challenge of creating dynamic classrooms that offer cutting-edge curriculum, a strong sense of community, and personalized support for every student who needs it.

Have a great Friday and GO MATS!

Parents' Club Message

Dear Miramonte Families,

Happy Friday Miramonte Families,

Don’t miss out on supporting our talented drama students! Next week, they’ll be performing in what promises to be TWO incredible shows featuring wild and wacky adaptations of ‘Cinderella’ and ‘Treasure Island’. More details and ticket info in the Newsletter below.

As I have mentioned many times, I am incredibly grateful to be part of such a generous community of volunteers. Your dedication never ceases to amaze me and last Saturday's campus beautification effort was another perfect example of that spirit in action. A huge thank you to our amazing VP of Services, Claudia Vetessi-Sherman, for helping organize this project and coordinating with Admin and the district, and a very special shoutout to our incredible Campus Beautification Chairs and parent volunteers- Rod Rios, Darin Chin, Kristan Mayer, and Corrine Dugan, plus the Student CB Club- David Leibowitz, Alessa Sherman, Tyler Williams, and Calvin Lai. Thank you for spending your Saturday transforming yet another one of our campus spaces. It looks AMAZING! We are so fortunate to have you and genuinely appreciate your hard work. They can use more help this weekend so please reach out to Claudia if you are available to help. Many hands make light work…and there is a lot more work to be done!

Have fun at the Power Puff games tonight! GO MATS!

Visual & Performing Arts News

Miramonte Presents: Two British Pantomimes – Cinderella and Treasure Island

Welcome to the wild and wacky world of Pantomime where classic stories meet modern pop culture and actors are free to play roles that are not restricted based on gender. The acting style is exaggerated and everything, including the props, is larger than life. This British tradition dates back to the 1700s and is based on the Italian theatre form of commedia dell’arte. Today, British families of all ages, typically around Christmas, see their local panto in villages or community centers or produced professionally on London’s West End. Integrating audience participation, popular music, and some raunchy innuendo, there is something for everyone when you go see the panto! We are happy to share this tradition and genre with Miramonte, and we hope you enjoy it. Cheers!

Showtimes:

Treasure Island: Thursday, October 24, 7:00 p.m.

Cinderella: Friday, October 25, 7:00 p.m.

Treasure Island: Saturday, October 26, 7:00 p.m.

Cinderella: Sunday, October 27, 4:00 p.m.
