Summer Events in Morris Park

Advocating for Infrastructure Maintenance and Upgrades

on Morris Park Avenue, following extensive flooding

A massive sink hole on Radcliff Avenue appearing on Monday July 22 made national news, at 58feet long, 15 feet wide and 20 feet deep (check NY Times report). The same week, both  on Monday, July 22, and on Thursday, July 28, heavy rains caused very significant flooding to many businesses on Morris Park Avenue. Business owners reported being afraid of getting electrocuted going into their own basements, and worried about the next rain forecast. The MPBID advocated with CB11 and the DEP on improving drainage capacity for storm water, and developing plans of replacing badly outdated infrastructure in Central and East Bronx.Big thanks to our small businesses especially Patsy's Pizza Morris Park - speaking on camera with News 12 The Bronx investigative reporter Carmen Grant amplifying our call for all relevant City agencies, especially NYC Water, to improve storm water drainage conditions and outdated infrastructure on #MorrisPark Avenue! Check here the News12 report

We appreciate DEP sending teams on Morris Park Avenue to clean up the catchment basins and conduct maintenance operations facilitating improved drainage along the commercial corridor. Thank you CB11 and all local elected representatives for the support!

"Hanging Garden" Art Installation completed

at the Morris Park Community Garden

Congratulations to local environmental artist Ruth Marshall for completing her installation "Hanging Garden" along with many community volunteers that came together between May 7th and July 30th crocheting this beautiful display. MPBID was honored to support this project conducted by Ruth with a grant from the Bronx Council on the Arts, that resulted in a colorful, crocheted art installation on the fence at 1000 Sacket Avenue. The community garden always looks for volunteers. Check out the Morris Park Community garden on Instagram at @morrisparkcommunitygarden.
